This month as been met with some set backs in bonding with our daughter. But there is much to learn through the setbacks and the exhaustive days. It falls in line with “Big steps” In my life. It is right up there with. Accepting Jesus, finishing college, getting married, adopting a child etc. It is one of those big moments that is a reason to celebrate but with it brings great responsibility. Transitioning to a growing family, maybe a move is involved, bigger car etc, all equal a transition. With adoption, it is no different. It seems, at least to me the transition just might last a little bit longer as the child changes, becomes more comfortable, is willing to begin to trust and begin to bond.

If I'm honest, there are times when I enjoy sitting in the slums making mud pies. But unlike the ignorant child in C. S. Lewis' example, I have no excuse. I have been to that sea and have experienced that joy. Yet I still choose to stay and play with mud. Why, when I realize my heart has wandered, do I choose to stay where I am?
