The place to share my home in southern Mississippi, my love of gardening, exotic birds and photography! As well as fine art, elegant poetry and anything else that appeals to my artist's eye. Monday, October 3, 2011. Within My Garden, rides a Bird. Within my Garden, rides a Bird. Upon a single Wheel -. Whose spokes a dizzy Music make. As 'twere a travelling Mill -. He never stops, but slackens. Above the Ripest Rose -. And praises as he goes,. Till every spice is tasted -. And then his Fairy Gig.

Friday, January 20, 2012. How the Buffalo were released on Earth. A Comanche and Apache Legend. In the first days a powerful being named Humpback owned all the buffalo. He kept them in a corral in the mountains north of San Juan, where he lived with his young son. After four days Coyote summoned the people to another...

Somehow this blog has scooped up a few more followers. Rather than making a full post now, there will at least be a promise of a new one in the next few days. It has been a very interesting time, since my last post. To be included in my upcoming posting;. Progress in the garden. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Mutterings in the Shrubbery: Travel Plans
http://dirtyhose.blogspot.com/2010/12/travel-plans.html
Wednesday, December 22, 2010. Before long this blog is going to turn into a travel blog! Having had a really busy year in 2010, I had earmarked January 2011 as a month to take a few weeks holiday. I am up for adventure. I recently spoke to some friends who are going to Thailand (again) for the new year. I have become quite spontaneous with my holidays abroad, booking flights and throwing things into my suitcase at the last minute. I feel this will be one of those spontaneous moments. With Thailand, you g...

Mutterings in the Shrubbery: January 2010
http://dirtyhose.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 31, 2010. Please mind the gap between the train and the cosmic recesses of outer space. Today I was doing a spot of digging in an area of the garden I've never dug. As gardeners, I'm sure we all find interesting bits and pieces. I regularly find old medicine bottles, as a previous owner was involved with pharmacy. I've also found thin, sealed-glass straws, containing various plant names on small slithers of paper. We aren't far away from the Mediaeval Merton Priory. I wonder. Another arch...

Mutterings in the Shrubbery: August 2009
http://dirtyhose.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, August 20, 2009. 160;I visited Victoria's backyard. On Monday, and what a huge surprise it was! As with many London gardens, there is an issue with light, what with buildings, fences and large trees. However, this garden is beautifully put together, which doesn't come across in any photos. . The planting is very well thought out, with an unique and well though out colour scheme which really lifts the entire scheme. That Phormium. The main view as you walk into the garden. The garden is planted ...

Mutterings in the Shrubbery: I don't care what you do to them, just be good to me.
http://dirtyhose.blogspot.com/2010/07/i-dont-care-what-you-do-to-them-just-be.html
Sunday, July 11, 2010. I don't care what you do to them, just be good to me. Dear lovely reader, thanks for clicking on the link! So, as promised last week* I have set aside some time to catch-up on my 'catch-up' blog post. Although I'd much prefer to be out watering the garden, my neighbours are having a particularly smokey barbecue. I suspect most of Merton Borough have been confined to their homes to avoid asphyxiation. Merton's loss, however, is your gain. Should I start at the beginning? A perfect o...

Wednesday, January 18, 2012. The Botanic Garden was full of Masked Tyrants. January seems to be the time when a lot of lazy bloggers re-visit their dusty old pages. I suppose it's similar to the gyms being packed full for the first month of the year. Whilst I am writing my come-back blog, I will not be heading to the gym this month. I am on holiday. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this blog is coming to you from the city of Buenos Aires! I have tried the local drink, Maté, which is very much like extremely st...
