On the Road, On the Mind, On the Wind. Posts on travel, books, and birds. Monday, August 31, 2015. Time for more photos from Forsythe. We went out to Atlantic City a few weeks ago and of course took the time to drive up to my favorite wildlife refuge, once on Saturday and again on Sunday. Pine trees and egrets, what a mix. You don't see the two together a whole lot, but this Great Egret was proud as a peacock up in his perch. The flexibility in these guys' necks never fails to amaze me. Lastly, a Snowy E...

On the Road, On the Mind, On the Wind. Posts on travel, books, and birds. Saturday, August 8, 2015. I do know how this book made it on to my list I saw an article about the origins of steampunk and it included this title, saying that it's also one of the best science-fiction books around. Then I found it at a library book sale. Done, and done! Since I feel like I have a lot of random thoughts about it, let's just do a bulleted list:. Reminded me of a book from earlier this year, Drood. T. Who knew Samuel...

On the Road, On the Mind, On the Wind. Posts on travel, books, and birds. Friday, August 7, 2015. I'm not sure how this book got onto my list, except that sometimes I do like to dip into the Young Adult section of the bookstore. There are some great quality books there. There's a lot less ruminating over the meaning of life and the loss of it than I expected, and more of it centers around her boyfriend than I expected. It's a very short book. Is this a powerhouse? I was visiting a local thrift shop and saw this on their shelves. I have Stewart's The Drunken Botanist. Lightweight and entertaining. On the Road, On the Mind, On the Wind. Posts on travel, books, and birds. Saturday, July 18, 2015. Irish Details - the Fourth Day. This day, we finally hiked along a waymarked trail, the Ulster Way. This was a 10-mile day, and I was doing it on pretty beat-up feet. But we made it, and in good time! Yep, it's small! Soon after Dunseverick, we seemed to walk up and up, around headland after headland, each one a little higher than the last. Eventually we passed an area called Half Moon Bay, if I recall ...
