August 3, 2009. 8230; now immigration …. 8212; by janellebenedict @ 12:21 pm. While we were in Haiti – on Friday – we learned that our adoption has been finalized, and she is now Lovely Benedict! It was so wonderful to be with her when we heard the news. It will still be a long time before she can come home; The immigration process is lengthy – probably nine months or more. As I filled the boxes brimming full of toys and treats and personal items, it was not lost on me how very much less I had sent our own precious one. We so rarely hear anything as it is, it’s disheartening to think we could potentially hear nothing for a number of months at a time. They will still send out the quarterly child updates with pictures – I assume – but that’s all. She is wearing the dress we sent her and holding the baby doll I bought for her (the contents of the ziplock bag).
