We would like to seek funding to purchase miniature fruit trees and bushes to create a Fruit Picking Project. We will plant the trees and bushes within a recently refurbished car park area. Once we have planted the fruit trees and bushes Friends of Our Valley will maintain them. The flora of the valley varies greatly from deciduous woodland to open meadows. The floor of the valley has many areas of marshland with a large variety of water loving plants. The drier sandy areas support a different array of plants including gorse and primrose.

For over 100 years the valley has been a centre for recreation for people wanting to enjoy the countryside and to participate in outdoor activities. The network of footpaths and bridleways give peaceful ways to walk, mountain bike or horse ride along and across the valley. Riding along the valley floor is suitable for families whilst still giving the feeling of adventure. Roman Lakes is a day ticket angling water and a special favourite with carp anglers.
