Winter in the Desert, Summer in the Mtns. Traveling toward simplicity and happiness. Another Day in the parking lot! We are back in one of our favorite places, Phon D Sutton Recreation Area in the Tonto NF, and we never thought we would be so happy camping in a parking lot! It’s the Salt River that makes it so special….(see above photo.) And the wild horses and bald eagles also entice us to stay. Now we are working on our fifth day! And we keep discovering places to hike! Backing up to 10 days ago….

Ignoring The Barking Dogs. Pioneers take the arrows". Oh, wait. I should be upbeat and taking arrows doesn't sound like an upbeat thing to say. So, let me amend that statement. The sentiments of that last paragraph come from a favorite author, Louis L'Amour, in many of his books. So, I can't really say that it is an original thought from me. However, what he said is truthful. Monday, October 24, 2011. Good Month for Me….Bad Month for the Blog. Then from October 7 through October 14, we were traveling to,...

So out of practice writing…could not even think of an appropriate title! Don’t know if we’ve adjusted to stationary living. Noticed that I am drawn to looking at pictures of Montana, Wyoming…hoping next summer we will find a way to be in big sky country! While surfing one night I stumbled across a video by the y...

Winter in the Desert, Summer in the Mtns. Traveling toward simplicity and happiness. Tucson Mountain Park, Gilbert Ray and the Desert Museum. It’s early on Friday the 13th of March. The wind is whipping around the trailer here in Montgomery, Alabama and we are on the last two days of the Green Eggs and Ham rally! But I want to write about our last few days in Arizona…while the memory is still intact. Warn that the road is rough and there’s some broken glass scattered throughout the camp. After consulting...

Winter in the Desert, Summer in the Mtns. Traveling toward simplicity and happiness. The title says it all! It has been a heck of a ride but we did it! Now we are beginning to enjoy our new home. Phone photos are the best way to show our summer. June 8th, 2015, this is the depressing reality of our new outdoor space. First splash of primer on the old kitchen walls. The kitchen/living room wall comes down. Bedroom floor after carpet is removed. Ceiling braced before header beam installed. 1 Do we love it?

Winter in the Desert, Summer in the Mtns. Traveling toward simplicity and happiness. Happy New Year from Beaumont, TX! Not sure how we could be moving at this turtle pace, but tonight, on this new year’s eve, after three days of travel, Google says it is only 729 miles back home! I am sure our truck odometer will show more but maybe it is a divine intervention to keep us out of this storm that’s bearing down on us. Highlights of our three days……. Links to this post. Sharing our love of America's Natural Wonders. Monday, April 30, 2012. Update on the new blog. Our world famous "OutinDeWoods" blog has moved as of 4/22/2012. The constraints associated with trying to keep updated while traveling in very low internet availability areas have gotten to be too much. I have found another service that makes it easier to prepare the blog posts while offline, with only a short time needed to finish it up online. All posts after this date will be at. Wednesday, April 4, 2012.
