July 28, 2014. This has been a month of nature study sadness and nature study delight for us as a family. Let me tell about our adventures…. July 7th–A severe thunderstorm with reported wind shear of 70 mph took a huge bite out of our beloved cottonwood tree that has been the subject of our year long tree study. My husband declared today one of the best days he’s had in a while. The whole family and maybe street concurs. Our sleep was interrupted last night by our happy, laughing, chatty neighbors at two in the morning. When we woke up to this…. We got from sixteen to eighteen inches. West of us got up to twenty inches.

Take three at blogging click. We got out first sticky snow last Monday. It was both exciting and foreboding. We got a 19 degree plunge last night through this morning yet the forecast for the end of the week promises an ascension to 50. What can I say, the midwest, keeps you right on your toes. This shrine to the Madonna is at the base of the Rialto Bridge, on the San Polo side. She's a bit worse for wear but there are always lots of flowers in front of her. Has photos of this Madonna.
