Skip to main content. The overall goal of the project is to preserve the community and the flavor of the neighborhood while improving its accessibility, infrastructure and sanitation. There is a lot that can be done to improve the infrastructure of the site. This will touch all aspects of the site from electricity and water to roads and waterways. Major areas of change include:. Dredging of the Adiganga to provide river access. Cleaning up the temple footprint and grounds. Refreshing the temple façade.

Skip to main content. The International Foundation for Sustainable Development conceived of the project and is the lead authority directing its execution. The Governments of India and West Bengal have officially sanctioned the project and provided the initial funds of Rs. 5 crores. The total cost of the project is estimated at Rs. 65 crores ($US 15 million) and its duration has been estimated at 30 months from the date of initial groundbreaking. International Foundation for Sustainable Development (IFSD).

Skip to main content. The Ancient Site: Kalikhetra. The Kalighat Temple's construction is unique as well. It's form is referred to as the Atchala which is the only purely Indian architectural form in the country. The unique four-sided form of the temple's roof is seen nowhere else in the world. The other more common forms, such as the Taj Mahal's dome, were all brought into India by other civilizations.
