My name is Melinda Fine. I have been an artist all my life, and my explorations have been mainly private endeavors. I made an attempt to study art at the college level in my undergraduate career, but I did not have the courage or ego strength to stand behind my vision at the time. I chose instead to pursue the art of writing fiction and earned my MFA in Creative Writing from UNC-G, studying with Fred Chappell, Robert Watson and Lee Zacharias. The short story is my medium of choice. My thesis: Ants.

In 1994, a friend of mine recommended me to do a photoshoot for local record producer, John Falzone. This was the first professional shoot I had ever done, and I didn't have the slightest idea what I was doing. My assignment was the Band Shoot- and the only time the band could get together was after work. Luckily it was May and the days are long- which is great because I do my best as a natural light photgrapher. I eneded up at the Krispy Kreme where I shot the Not So Dandelions. Go to CD page.

Most of you already know there is no love lost between me and NCSU SOD. Chalk it up to being partly devastated and partly empowered following the catastrophic demise of my marriage. By the time I was in grad school again, I was older and had little tolerance for equivocation or bullshit. I left after completing 2 years of a three year program.
