Over and around us. Summer in Vienna I. We are having such a wonderful time. It has been about 3 weeks now since we've arrived and so much has happened. The first week was pretty much a blur. Traveling internationally with 4 kids, including a tiny baby, is not the easiest of endeavors. Mostly because you can't really force kids to stay awake/sleep when necessary in an attempt to lessen jet lag. So, yeah, we were pretty much total zombies for the first few days. As the day faded into night and we skimmed through the evening my kids faded off in age-order. First Michael, then John. And then it was truly night and just Wendy and I awake in the darkness. Over and around us. We've been on a summer vacation of sorts. Our school year finished a bit earlier than usual in preparation for our summer in Vienna. Ella and I took a month of German class at BYU. Fun. Very fun. Ethan is playing baseball. Cate is growing fast. Asher has permanent dirt under his fingernails and that is a GOOD THING. We saw a huge bull snake (or "blow snake" as they're sometimes called) in our neighbor's yard. We hosted our Vienna students for dinner and had a wonderful time.

Over and around us. Summer in Vienna II. We have decided that IF we were to move to a city (which we are not) then Vienna it might be! Compared to NYC living, Vienna is comfortable, convenient, and civilized. It is a beautiful situation. Come sightseeing with us for a moment:. Trying to be like Sisi. At Schonbrunn's Children's Museum- -we got to see how the royal children lived. Random shot of cuteness. Having a "ball" dressing up. Ethan as "Prince" and Ella and Asher as servants. Sunday, August 26, 2012. We transformed three pairs of flipflops into animal track shoes using our hot glue gun and sheets of colored craft foam. I let each child choose an animal- cougar, porcupine, and deer. We tried out our cool nature shoes on the mountain this weekend. The kids loved it. "People are going to come behind us on the trail and think wild animals were walking here! It's surprising how well they held up. The kids ran up and down cliffs and we only lost one cougar toe. Id love to go there!
