Recommendations from my meanderings through the world of books. Saturday, October 10, 2009. March by Geraldine Brooks. I really enjoyed another of Geraldine Brooks' books ( People of the Book. Now, when you're looking for reading suggestions, you can check it out. Summary Lists (mor...

Recommendations from my meanderings through the world of books. Saturday, April 25, 2009. How We Decide by Jonah Lehrer. Combining neuroscience and entertaining writing, Lehrer describes how the best decisions are a combination of rational and emotional decision-making processes. Fascinating and very easy to read. Serendipitous Reader: The Star Thrower by Loren Eiseley
http://serendipitousreader.blogspot.com/2007/05/star-thrower-by-loren-eiseley_29.html
Recommendations from my meanderings through the world of books. Tuesday, May 29, 2007. The Star Thrower by Loren Eiseley. I picked up this book because I liked the title, and decided to buy it as soon as I saw the intro was written by W.H. Auden. Excellent decision… I was blown away by this book. Eiseley is a naturalist, anthropologist, scientist, environmentalist, historian, poet (and more), and his writing is fantastic! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Star Thrower by Loren Eiseley. Recommendations from my meanderings through the world of books. Sunday, October 28, 2007. Action Inquiry by Bill Torbert. I haven't read much in the last several months, and I struggled through this book; the writing is dry but the content is good - and I'll re-read it when I get a chance. It's about creating an environment in which people and organizations learn and develop. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). LMK what you think of the blog and feel free to add your 2c to my blurbs. Serendipitous Reader: Emma by Jane Austin
http://serendipitousreader.blogspot.com/2009/06/emma-by-jane-austin.html
Recommendations from my meanderings through the world of books. Wednesday, June 10, 2009. Emma by Jane Austin. I love Pride and Prejudice, but was disappointed by Emma. so much so that I didn’t even finish it. This book lacks the wit of Pride and Prejudice and I just got tired of reading about the manipulative, self-absorbed, flighty heroine. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Serendipitous Reader: Good puns
http://serendipitousreader.blogspot.com/2008/12/good-puns.html
Recommendations from my meanderings through the world of books. Sunday, December 28, 2008. Some very clever puns:. 1 A vulture boards an airplane, carrying two dead raccoons. The flight attendant looks at him and says, 'I'm sorry, sir, only one carrion allowed per passenger. 2 Two fish swim into a concrete wall. The one turns to the other and says, 'Dam! 4 Two hydrogen atoms meet. One says, 'I've lost my electron.' The other says, 'Are you sure? The first replies, 'Yes, I'm positive.'. 9 Mahatma Gandhi, ...
