Object / installation, 2014. Black Box’ presents a black wooden volume that is suspended in the exhibition space. The base of the object shows a hollow in the shape of a skull. When the visitor enters this cavity with his head, the status of the object switches into that of an interface. Black Box is co-produced by z33, Hasselt for the 2014 Overtoon exhibition.

L A N G U A G E is a series of loudspeaker objects which couples the idea of language as a system with the physical power of air pressure. In the first object L A N G U A G E 1 there are 16 speaker cones which are switched on and off sequentially by supplying a fixed voltage. This jolt of power does not produce audio content; it merely maximises the expansion of the cone. Lighting accentuates the difference between elements switched on or off, resulting in a graphical pattern. From Christoph De Boeck.

CELL : Christoph De Boeck

Cell' represents a focal point for low-frequency acoustic waves, energy that arises with vibrations originating within the exhibition building. These vibrations - infrasonic and therefore inaudible - are picked up by wireless piezo sensors. A cylindrical volume of steel resounds those waves by rescaling them to an audible pitch.
