Alison studied at Camberwell College of Applied Arts, London for a B.A. Hons. Degree in Ceramics. Since graduating she has become a member of the Oxfordshire Craft Guild and has established a workshop in South Oxfordshire. She teaches pottery and figurative sculpture courses at Sunningwell School of Art and is a tutor in a variety of schools and community centres. Alison exhibits both sculptural and functional pieces. Recent visits to Skomer Island, with their puffin and gannet communities, led Alison to concentrate on a whole new body of work. Her wildlife pieces are raku or smoke fired to create interesting and unique glazes, patterns and textures. All are handbuilt using a slabbing method, like the figures, or sculpted.

Although Alison can control and design various shapes in the Tripot range, she does not work from templates and so each piece is unique.

Pieces are made from a variety of stoneware clays depending on scale, form and firing technique. Each piece is hollow, hand built and unique.
