Wednesday, November 2, 2011. I keep thinking about the traffic in India. All the time I have spent on the road lately may be the impetus for that. The good thing is that we have traveled over several areas and I am lucky that I didn’t judge all of India by the traffic in Kerala. We took the 3 day trip to Thekaddy and the Tiger Reserve earlier. To get there we went through the tropical highlands and the tea and cardamom plantations. In some areas the roads are only one lane wide. Then the dance would begin.

Saturday, December 24, 2011. Well, here it is again and I haven’t gotten my holiday cards out yet. On top of all that, I have a stack of beautiful cards accumulating with many including letters. AND the post office in our area is planning to ship all our mail to Medford instead of processing it here in Eureka so that they can get rid of 10 jobs. Thursday, November 10, 2011. I am in Doha, Qatar, now but want to finish up some thoughts on India. There is more time in Doha as we were scheduled down to the half hour. I didn’t want to miss a thing and every minute that I wasn’t traveling I wanted to spend with Ramesh’s family. The People of India are amazing! Forgive me if I duplicate previous comments as my mind will revisit experiences and you happen to be the unlucky recipient.). That would bring in the adults. My last discussion was on the roads.

Thursday, October 27, 2011. There is no rhyme or reason for the buildings here. There are small houses next to large houses, old houses next to new houses and businesses in between. Most of the houses have a flat roof and a corrugated-metal peaked roof above that. The space that creates is called the terrace. It serves 2 purposes. One it creates a place to dry clothes during the monsoon season when it doesn’t stop raining. And secondly, the houses are built of bricks. I am not allowed to drink that water.
