Views on current affairs, war and peace etc. Wednesday, July 20, 2011. Fake choices, moving targets and diversions. Some tricks to watch out for in opposing the cuts caused by the banking scam. In an attempt to fool people that 'we're all in this together' and that it's all above board and democratic, the government is providing us the opportunity to have some input. Into the public sector 'review' (also known as the big cuts, aka the 'tough decisions'.). Actually, they could raise revenue by doing this.

According to the front page of this weeks Limerick Chronicle, our fearless Mayor is jumping to our rescue from another great peril. He wants new laws brought in to give powers to Gardaí to stop people begging on the streets of Limerick City. He has the backing of the manager of Brown Thomas! Id also prefer if there were no beggars so whats the wonderful cure, Mayor? Posted by Tim Hourigan.

Pitting the obvious institutional gender imbalance against the concept of freedom to select candidates based on merit (as if THAT would change under the proposed rules! Should political parties be forced to select a quota of women in order to remain eligible to receive taxpayer funding. Posted by Tim Hourigan.

I cant say I was sad or happy to hear that the US had killed Osama bin Laden. Hed been reported dead before anyway, so I dont jump at headlines. I think, if after 9/11, theyd treated that massive crime, as a crime and hunted the man down, caught him, or killed him resisting, I would have been happy about it. Posted by Tim Hourigan. Views on current affairs, war and peace etc. Sunday, August 1, 2010. Fake Feminism for pro-war purposes. We are currently seeing a renewed effort to rebrand Afghanistan as a war for Human Rights, and in particular Womens rights. The current issue of TIME Magazine has a front cover photo of an 18 year old Afghan woman called Aisha whose nose has been cut off and the headline What happens if we leave Afghanistan. Views on current affairs, war and peace etc. Saturday, June 16, 2012. Prometheus - a Facehugger of a film. Eventually a film gets boiled down into one sentence (not the tag line that the studio wants, but the one that reviewers pick). Alien was slow paced, haunted house in space. Aliens was a rollercoaster ride of a Vietnam movie in space with Xenomorphs playing the part of the tough enemy that likes tunnels. So here comes the cliché. This is a FACEHUGGER of a film. Have you ever seen ". Coming out of th...

They promise to fix it, AFTER we vote. Wow, the best 'election promise' yet. I must try this scam meself. I have a car to sell, I bring it to you, you look at it, and say no thanks. Ah, go on buy it. But there's things wrong with it" You tell me. I'll fix them sure I will. Okay, go on fix them". Ah, just buy it first, and I'll fix it later.

Views on current affairs, war and peace etc. Friday, July 29, 2011. Smoking ban or smokescreen? Beware the wedge issues that distract and divide. What is a wedge issue? Is a clever distraction that is used to draw public attention away from a more serious issue. They cause the public to spend time and energy arguing over a different topic, while the government continues to push ahead with unpopular policies. The vast majority of you, right? If you got to Google News, and type in " I. Now type in '. And h...
