The Book I'm Not Reading: October 2010
http://thebookimnotreading.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
The Book I'm Not Reading. Thursday, October 7, 2010. So, without further ado, here's the apple/blueberry crisp I just made:. The stove light doesn't show it off to best advantage (nor does the iPhone camera), but it sure does taste good! Now, let's see- what did I do? And it's lovely. I'm going to have a plate of it with some cream if the cream hasn't gone off. If you want to make this and feel better measuring, it's in Bittman's How to Cook Everything. Wednesday, October 6, 2010. So, stay tuned for ADVE...

The Book I'm Not Reading: July 2008
http://thebookimnotreading.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
The Book I'm Not Reading. Tuesday, July 15, 2008. The last couple of weeks have been many and variegated. Which means that cooking successes don't get blogged about until much later, like the stew Lauren and I made at the hostel in Doolin. It was a little random- partly designed to use up ingredients- but it was fabulous:. 4 or 5 smallish regular potatoes. 2 medium sweet potatoes. And some garlic, sauteed in butter. 3 small red peppers, roasted. A little ground coriander. Thursday, July 3, 2008. In other...

What else have I made this week? 1 Sentences, paragraphs, and a research proposal. 2 A trip to the Whole Foods in Hadley. 3 A hole in my silly dog pajamas. 4 Sore muscles from my first ever aerobics classes. 5 Some new friends? Too early to tell. 6 2 trips to Woodstar for their divine. 7 Many, many cups of tea.

The Book I'm Not Reading. Tuesday, February 3, 2009. Living with Miss Diss. You know, when you're writing a dissertation, blogging suddenly becomes a really distasteful thing to do- or at least, to me it does, because if I'm writing all day, writing more is about the last thing I want to do. But here I am. Guilt, perhaps? Haven't yet thought of it. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. The Iron Fist of Love. Pleasure from the thorns. Notes from a Big(gish) Island. A Vapor's Voice: Sustainability: Suffering
http://bowbreath.blogspot.com/2010/09/sustainability-suffering.html
Our life is but a vapor. Here are some of the breaths and musings from one wisp of vapor. Thursday, September 02, 2010. This has become quite a buzzword of late, in discussion of environmentalism, economics, you name it. In my ongoing endeavor to quantify my emotions and perceived "needs" I was mulling over the idea of sustainability as it relates to suffering. So different stresses have varying levels of sustainability. Some are, some simply aren't. And different people have different levels of strength.

A Vapor's Voice: The Light of Your Face
http://bowbreath.blogspot.com/2010/11/light-of-your-face.html
Our life is but a vapor. Here are some of the breaths and musings from one wisp of vapor. Monday, November 01, 2010. The Light of Your Face. My dad is a sucker for gadgets. He once bought me a bagel slicer, and at its presentation I said,. But I already have one! He replied, surprised. And I pulled out a steak knife from the drawer. And it can be helpful, especially since I have no light of my own. My face emanates no brilliance or splendor. But God does. He doesn't need a headlamp. I am a homeschooling ...

A Vapor's Voice: Transparency
http://bowbreath.blogspot.com/2010/04/transparency.html
Our life is but a vapor. Here are some of the breaths and musings from one wisp of vapor. Friday, April 16, 2010. But when my blog could be potentially read by any of the above, and when facebook status updates are. But now, everybody sees it. I may have reserved my discussion on amaranth or hydrogenated oils for the few health nuts I know, instead of opening it to a broader audience. The fiddle people, who may have vaguely known I was not Hindu, now see, 'whoa, she's really. Now it's ALL out there!

The Book I'm Not Reading: I Measure Deliciousness in Metric
http://thebookimnotreading.blogspot.com/2010/09/i-measure-deliciousness-in-metric.html
The Book I'm Not Reading. Friday, September 10, 2010. I Measure Deliciousness in Metric. Tonight I do, anyway. This recipe comes from Sophie, and her version was even better- I believe she made it with both monkfish and salmon from the fish shop in the market in Ennis. I had frozen cod on hand, so used that- but it was by far outdone by the sheer wondrousness of the soup itself. 250 g sweet potato. 1 liter of fish stock (vegetable stock can be substituted). 2 teaspoons of curry powder. Juice of 1 lime.

The Book I'm Not Reading: November 2008
http://thebookimnotreading.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
The Book I'm Not Reading. Monday, November 3, 2008. So just what kind of a paragraph is THIS? That's Sarah Palin, quoted on www.nytimes.com. I would just like to say that in addition to any number of other things I'm voting for or against, I am most certainly voting against terrible grammar, usage, and composition in statements like this. In part because it is insidious, and affects my own writing, as this post demonstrates! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. The Iron Fist of Love.
