Just another Conservative Friend who writes too much. The Words of the Preacher. One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever. - Ecclesiastes 1:4. The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem. Spoken and written a long, long time ago. I think about those words from time to time, and what they meant to him, and to me. What are the constituents of a life? Are they the plans we make for tomorrow, or for next year, or for many years to come?

Were young cities weren't invented and everybody lived in grass huts.". The First Day: Broadband. Wow," said my skeptical imps, one after the other. "Look, YouTube even works.". We use the WiFi at the McDonald's.". Even Shawna was impressed, which takes a lot as well. I tried to present it in its best light. Thank you. Very nice.". The Second Day: The High Board.

Just another Conservative Friend who writes too much. Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. I reach forward and turn the knob on the radio. A familiar train of guitar chords emerges from the speakers, an old song that haunts the chapters of my life, appearing always on cue after every change in course. I listen to the words, and mentally cut another benchmark signalling a turn in my life. I look ...

quakerthink: twilight
http://quakerthink.blogspot.com/2014/05/twilight.html
Just another Conservative Friend who writes too much. Carlos casteneda once commented upon a yaqui indian belief about the twilight, which he called the crack between the worlds. where the terminator sweeps across the earth, the forces of day and night are equally strong, and equally weak. within this brief period the powers of the yaqui sorcerors are at their dailypeaks, and the contacts with the spirit world are more frequent and more intense. quakerthink: Canaan
http://quakerthink.blogspot.com/2012/01/canaan.html
Just another Conservative Friend who writes too much. It is a blazing hot morning in a dry, dry, land. A barefoot man dressed in a ragged. Brown loincloth stumbles behind a pair of skinny oxen, sidestepping over the ragged furrow dragged into the ground by the worn wooden plow. He pauses to wipe his brow, and looks over the green, sprouting barley in the next field, to the hilltop. As he watches, a mass of men appear above the horizon, the sun glinting off hundreds of spear points. Folks, this is a littl...

quakerthink: The Great Hot Air Balloon Failure
http://quakerthink.blogspot.com/2011/04/great-hot-air-balloon-failure.html
Just another Conservative Friend who writes too much. The Great Hot Air Balloon Failure. My kids are a curious lot, perpetually. Our kids are especially fond of bright colors, paper, defying gravity, cutting things up, destroying solid objects, and discovering new uses for fire. So one day last week, I considered that it was time to teach the children something useful about all of these things. How, I wondered, could I possibly fit all this into a single day? 8220;Why should I help you build a bomb?

Just another Conservative Friend who writes too much. Quakers in the Country: Sandworm. After 500,000 miles as an over-the-road truck driver, I have taken on a new job. I have become a Sandworm. Are we justified in refusing to be a part of the oil and gas development in our own neighborhoods, while remaining active consumers of the oil and gas produced in the neighborhoods of others? What should be our own witness in this matter? So far the solution to that dilemma is in doubt. Links to this post. Where ...

Just another Conservative Friend who writes too much. My QualComm unit beeps at me, my satellite connection to Dawn, my dispatcher, far away. WANT TO GO TO CA? SURE, I type back into the little keyboard. ANYTIME. PICK UP A REPLACEMENT AT KAUKAUNA THEN HEAD WEST.
