A diary of my new paintings, with some notes on technique and reasons behind the images
painting with john: December 2014
http://paintingwithjohn.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
A diary of my new paintings, with some notes on technique and reasons behind the images. Sunday, 28 December 2014. Following on from the subject of my last few posts, here are two hurried sketches which I painted recently. I am still trying to remind myself of the way that watercolour should be used, I think it is coming back to me, but oh so slowly. But it is beginning to feel right, once more - see what you think:-. A snow scene (#2). A very simple application of washes. Wednesday, 10 December 2014.

A diary of my new paintings, with some notes on technique and reasons behind the images. Wednesday, 26 November 2014. Watercolour - A Snow Scene. In my last post, I discussed why I did not think much of a recent watercolour. I was intending to repeat it (or at least complete it) with those comments in mind. I was at my art group last night and saw a painting in a magazine which really caught my eye, thus inspired I decided to try and capture the scene in my own style. Here it is:-. With pastels, I would ...

A diary of my new paintings, with some notes on technique and reasons behind the images. Tuesday, 10 December 2013. Two Pastel Paintings, Mace Reeds and The River. I have completed two pastel painting this week, both were paintings which I was not sure of and left them to mature before adding final touches. The first was from a photograph which had been posted by a friend. The second pastel is in fact taken from a watercolour painting I did when holidaying at a small village (three houses and a pub) call...

Artyfax - an artists blog: The Winged Man - After Odilon Redon
http://johndyhouse.blogspot.com/2015/04/the-winged-man-after-odilon-redon.html
Thursday, 16 April 2015. The Winged Man - After Odilon Redon. I have just got to tell you a story of an old (early) pastel painting of mine based on an oil painting by Odilon Redon. Today, I wanted to remind myself of the original media used by Redon for his painting, I thought it was oil but I wanted to confirm it for a post I was writing for my FB page. I googled . and found a copy of my version. On a blog which seemed to purport to be a serious art blog. I am not sure! It is interesting to see that th...

Friday, 22 August 2014. After the dust has cleared from Squidoo . I had been wondering what to do with this set of blogs, you may have noticed that The last post was nearly three months ago. A combination of factors really but two closures for me have finally stung me into action. The closure of Squidoo, which had been my main writing site and. The continued lack of payments by Bubblews for as far as I am concerned no good reason. The major difference for this blog is that I will be explaining the proces...

Tuesday, 28 April 2015. Development of a new acrylic painting - part 2. Here I am presenting the completed acrylic painting, which I started and posted on 18th April. Not sure if this is what I had intended that first week, I rarely leave completing a painting to a second session let alone leaving it for so long. I normally know exactly what I am going to do and aim to complete in one two hour session. Posted by john dyhouse. At Tuesday, April 28, 2015. Thursday, 16 April 2015. Today, I wanted to remind ...

Wednesday, 8 October 2014. Hub Pages And Me. After a few weeks at HubPages with my transferred Squidoo lenses, I am finding that the shorter review lenses do not seem to be sitting happily on HP at all. Visits are well down on the higher traffic articles and I have not even started editing these yet to re-format them to sit on HP's pages. You can find my profile page on Bubblews. And see some of my short but interesting (If I do say so myself) articles mostly talking about my photographs and artwork.

Tuesday, 22 April 2014. More ATC's, 2014 Exhibition, New Web-site. I have several thing to cram into this week's post, as you can see from that badly formed title. Oh yes, a title is important! But here they are anyway:-. I have titled this card. I feel that I have become too stuck with simple collages, and need to get awa from the TV (! Maybe I need to kick myself up the butt and stop procrastinating. But what else have I got for you? And finally, I am creating a set of static web-sites (on WIX.COM)...

Artyfax - an artists blog: Mixed Media Demonstration
http://johndyhouse.blogspot.com/2015/05/mixed-media-demonstration.html
Wednesday, 6 May 2015. This year we have a new organiser for our program and she has taken some different directions. A portrait in oils and this mixed media work are the very different demos that she has arranged. Final details are added using soft pastels, here is an example of her work, titled "Ragley Flowers". See this and more of Fiona's work on her web site. I am inspired to "have-a-go" at the next art group meeting, I don't have the acrylic inks but will find a substitute. After all rules are ...

Wednesday, 5 November 2014. Progress on HubPages and latest ATC's. I have been so very disappointed with Hub Pages. It is a different system of payment to Squidoo, which seemed to help those few lenses which floated to the top. On HP it really is down to the number of views and my income has gone down tremendously. I am still creating ATC's and here I am sharing the latest of those few I am doing. I think I have said enough about the HubPages issue and promise not to bore you anymore with it.
Poems and Poetry on Life: February 2013
http://poemsbyartyfax.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
Poems and Poetry on Life. Wednesday, 20 February 2013. My first collection of some older poetry. I have pulled together some poetry from the 60's and 70's and published it as my first collection on Scribd. It is available for free download on that site. Poems on Endings and Lost Loves. Mechanical Poetry to overcome writer's block. Yes I am still suffering from this infliction. Now that is patently silly because even a Haiku is a complete poem, so what do I mean? Wind chill factor high. Red warning of snow.

Monday, 27 July 2015. So much to do so little time . I must have heard that before somewhere. Painting is taking a bit of a backseat at the moment because of another major interest in my life. I am learning to play the ukulele, and the club I have joined - I used to call it a group (? Yellow sky at night. Deep in the forest. Oh well back to the ukulele for a little while .
