The Palaeobabbler: Google Steno
http://palaeobabbler.blogspot.com/2012/01/google-steno.html
Wednesday, 11 January 2012. Google often does some pretty cool tributes, some of which are highly interactive, some are simply good to look at. Today they are celebrating the 374th birthday of Nicolas Steno, pioneer geologist, palaeontologist, stratigrapher and anatomist (even mineralogist, but let's not go there) before everyone else jumped on those bandwagons. Although most well known for his geological contributions, he also became a Catholic bishop, involved in the Counter-Reformation, and was even b...
The Palaeobabbler: Christmas Art
http://palaeobabbler.blogspot.com/2011/12/christmas-art.html
Saturday, 24 December 2011. So far I have shown three pictures I have drawn, here is another, quickly drawn for Christmas. Sorry about the poor quality image:. Yep, that's an ankylosaur dragging a present sack, with a Rhamphorhynchus. On its back carrying mistletoe and wearing a Santa hat, while underwater is a Santa hat sporting ammonite swimming near a Christmas tree crinoid. I won't pick at this picture, it could obviously be significantly be improved, but it was a quick and cheerful sketch.
The Palaeobabbler: Excuses, excuses, and a new short story
http://palaeobabbler.blogspot.com/2012/05/excuses-excuses-and-new-short-story.html
Monday, 21 May 2012. Excuses, excuses, and a new short story. Magazine, which is my first publication. I now only have one exam to prepare for and finally have a much needed break for a week. Oh dear, I previewed the post and it looks horrible the way they are now throwing advertisements into the text. Gah! So here is my entry, it is called Mathilde,. And is not for the faint hearted. It has some bad language and graphic detail. Enjoy. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.
The Palaeobabbler: The Creationist Concept of Kind
http://palaeobabbler.blogspot.com/2011/10/creationist-concept-of-kind.html
Thursday, 27 October 2011. The Creationist Concept of Kind. This will not be a post about the ambiguity surrounding the term kind. When used by creationists. The lack of taxonomic clarity can be largely ignored, as the philosophical ideas expressed through the term need to first be addressed. Kinds, in this post, will simply mean a discrete group of closely related organisms. I will attempt to demonstrate that the common creationist usage of kind. What the Bible Says. Genesis 1:11-13 (emphasis mine).
The Palaeobabbler: Helpers of your Joy
http://palaeobabbler.blogspot.com/2011/12/helpers-of-your-joy.html
Friday, 23 December 2011. Helpers of your Joy. Over the past few weeks I found myself discussing on a Facebook group called Helpers of your Joy. And have no idea how I got there. I mostly ignored it, as they all bicker about the same, very dull, theological ideas and it is proving to be a very poor group for helping anyone's joy. I spotted that a friend had posted there about Genesis and decided to join in, as the majority there appeared to be very uninformed creationists. It might seem clear, but they w...

The Palaeobabbler
Tuesday, 20 November 2012. I haven't used this blog for rather a long time and now it is time to move on. I have started a new blog, using WordPress, with the same name as this one. It will focus on evolution and palaeontology (it is meant to be more "professional" but only time will tell). I will not abandon this blog completely, but it will not get much use. The new blog can be found here: http:/ palaeobabbler.wordpress.com/. Links to this post. Wednesday, 4 July 2012. And The Pterosaur Heresies. But d...
The Palaeobabbler | The perspectives of a struggling palaeontology graduate.
November 30, 2014 · 8:49 pm. Jurassic World – an opinionated review of the trailer. I’ve been talking about. For years, though naturally referring to it as. For most of that time. I’ve followed rumours down dead ends and was excited when it was announced, though also a tad nervous. So with the release of the trailer I am finding a lot of friends interested in my opinion. There’s a lot to take in from such a short clip, but that is no surprise, I have been a. Rarely felt like a. Those snippets from the.
