Insights from Family Relations

Monday, April 4, 2011. Advice From Sister Williams. My favorite part of the class last week was when Brother Williams' wife, Sister Williams, came to visit. She gave us a lot of great advice, here is some of the advice. Applicable to me right now:. Dating and engagement is the time to be realistic, not the time to have your head in the clouds. And for a while! Don't ignore your goals and standards for anyone (especially not a guy). Good stuff to know:. The birth parent should do the heavy correcting.

Insights from Family Relations: January 2011

http://www.pamelasinsights.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Saturday, January 29, 2011. Social Class and Cultures. This week we talked about social class and cultures. It was very interesting. Culture fascinates me because I think we usually think of culture as religion, race, nationality, etc. Culture is all of those things and more. It's basically how you were raised. I love thinking about my culture because I think I was raised well. How about you guys? What sort of things are involved in your family culture? Saturday, January 22, 2011. Are indicated with a do...

Insights from Family Relations: Marriage. . .

http://www.pamelasinsights.blogspot.com/2011/02/marriage.html

Tuesday, February 22, 2011. Marriage. . . Last week we discussed marriage and strengthening relationships. One of the first things Brother Williams asked us to do was to write down why we intended to marry. Here is what I put:. We talked about conflict in marriage. Brother Williams said that the first year of marriage establishes the pattern of how conflict is resolved. We talked about being intentional about how we interact with our spouse and others involved in our life. February 22, 2011 at 8:25 PM.

Insights from Family Relations: Active Parenting

http://www.pamelasinsights.blogspot.com/2011/03/active-parenting.html

Monday, March 28, 2011. This is so exciting! Last week was so much fun! We learned about Active Parenting. Active Parenting focuses on the needs of the child (why they are doing what they are doing) instead of their bad behavior. This helps to solve the problem instead of trying to correct it every time it happens (and it will keep happening until you really solve the problem). The first universal need that we discussed is Contact and Belonging. You give the child attention when it is not sought after.

Family Relationships: February 2011

http://familyrelations.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Monday, February 21, 2011. There is a quote that my teacher has quoted a couple times in class that has really stood out to me. I can't remember who said it first but I believe it was a psychologist or therapist. Love is the degree to which we are committed to somebody's spiritual growth and well being". I absolutely love this! Do we want the best for them? I would encourage everyone to evaluate their relationships and discover what kind of love those relationships are based on. And then remember to ...

Family Relationships: January 2011

http://familyrelations.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Monday, January 24, 2011. Three to Four Generations. Today in class we talked about genograms, which are a way to map out families and the relationships within families. Genograms allow us to recognize patterns that occur within the family and are usually intergenerational. Often genograms consist of three to four generations of a family. Why map out three or four generations of a family? So today I have found myself thinking about my family and the generations before, looking for patterns. We were a...

Divorce - Family Relations Blog

http://jerriejones.weebly.com/1/post/2011/04/divorce.html

Ldquo;Seventy percent of divorcees think they made a mistake two years later.”. That statement practically shouts at me. That says to me that things could really…suck. And they could suck for a long time. I think the principal behind this is that things will get better. It will not always be roses and sunshine and butterflies. Sometimes you just have to wait it out and endure those hard time in order to get to the good ones. Please enjoy other Family Relations Blogs:. Create a free website.

Family Relationships: 3 Ps

http://familyrelations.blogspot.com/2011/02/3-ps.html

Monday, February 21, 2011. We talked about dating and courtship a couple weeks ago. And I know that a few from the class have already blogged about this but I found it really interesting. Often people look to the guy to initiate a date and can't remember which General Authority said this but he said that a date should have 3 Ps. It was a connection I'd never seen before! Does he respect you enough to not make you do anything you don't want or shouldn't be doing? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Convites e R.S.V.P.
