A day in the life of a circus showgirl. April 20, 2013. The danger is what makes aerial acts exciting, and I face that danger everyday without a hitch. Except for today. Today I faced my other fear, something that scares me even more than big waves: tornadoes! Well, not a tornado. A tornado warning. Which is a potential tornado, and that’s really just as bad. All day I was terrified, looking around for the tornado that may or may not hit our tent (which could so easily be blown down! Next Post →. You are...

Where… where is everyone?? | water for acrobats
https://water4acrobats.wordpress.com/2013/04/16/where-where-is-everyone
A day in the life of a circus showgirl. Where… where is everyone? April 16, 2013. It is intermission in our second show of the day here in Durham, NC, and…. nobody is here! The first show was almost empty and this one is not much better. In my section, there was no one. Literally, no one. During the show I saw two people sitting there, but it turned out to be. One of the guys who sells popcorn, taking a 2 minute break. When I bow, I am facing section J and K. Today I actually bowed to nobody! After an ab...

A day in the life of a circus showgirl. Sherlock Holmes wouldn’t dress like that. September 3, 2012. While doing the casino job in Reno, S and I started watching the BBC Sherlock Holmes tv show. Now whenever we figure something out, we say it’s because we are Sherlock Holmes, even if our mysteries are as simple as “where did the boys put the beer? 8221; Or “who took the mayonnaise? More later, just looked at the clock! 10 minutes to showtime! September 2, 2012. He showed us some tiger whiskers, too, whic...

Dreams really do come true | water for acrobats

A day in the life of a circus showgirl. Dreams really do come true. April 8, 2013. We had three shows yesterday and we’re halfway through our third show for today– but I feel great! I don’t have to sell tickets before the show–. However we are right next to the general admission seating, so sometimes people sneak in and try to sit in the VIP chairs! Still, even when the show is crowded and people end up in the wrong seats, it is not a terribly difficult job. Time to suit up! This entry was tagged circus.

no more water. for anyone. | water for acrobats
https://water4acrobats.wordpress.com/2012/03/06/no-more-water-for-anyone
A day in the life of a circus showgirl. No more water. for anyone. March 6, 2012. We spent 5 whole days in the last town, which was amazing. A great building with enough showers in the locker room for everyone! I used to hate public showers. Camps and truck stops were just not for me. Now I love them. Hot water, and more privacy than you get in a trailer for sure! As well as the native dance, the show added the cyclone (not my favorite act to perform, but definitely a crowd pleaser) a flying act, a clown...

A day in the life of a circus showgirl. Y’all arent the first barbie dolls i’ve worked with. September 4, 2012. When we got off I realized that the whole time, I had been smiling like I do in shows. I guess I am just so used to any crazy movement being during a show, that I do the showgirl smile on reflex! The air feels heavier…. and although cyclone is my favorite act, I was a little glad I didn’t have to climb up into the oven at the top of the cuppola! Sherlock Holmes wouldn’t dress like that. Where&#...

A day in the life of a circus showgirl. They didn’t know whether they could weather the weather. April 10, 2013. The weather here has been insane. It has been cold, then rainy, then hot, then rainy again, then cold…. and that is without even moving between towns! Well intermission is almost over! Dreams really do come true.
