Reading Response Notebooks | Panicked Teacher's Blog

http://www.panickedteacher.blogspot.com/2013/06/reading-response-notebooks.html

Wednesday, June 19, 2013. I have been using reading response notebooks for a few years now and I love how students are able to track their work and make a "literature portfolio" of their entire school year. Here's a brief snapshot on how I use these in my class! First, students add to their reading response notebooks consistently throughout the year based on the reading comprehension skill or strategy that we are focusing on for the week. Measurement Conversions (A Different Approach! Sunday, March 22, 2015. I have always known that measurement conversions are TRICKY! They are tricky to teach AND to learn. Even when I am trying to figure out conversions I have to use strategies to help ME with knowing how many feet are in 3 yards etc. SO, last year, I came up with a scaffolded method for this challenging concept. I use the chart seen below for the students to use when doing the "math" in their minds. If you would like to try this strategy...

Simple, Compound, and Complex Sentences! Saturday, January 31, 2015. Earlier in the year, I took my students through a series of lessons that focused on simple, compound, and complex sentences. Trav's Blog

The story of a geek. Ubuntu 11.04: initial praise/criticism, and rambling thoughts. On April 18, 2011. I’m bringing my blog out of retirement for at least one post. It has been almost 2 years since my last post, but I wanted to get my thoughts on the new version of Ubuntu out somewhere, and hopefully start a discussion with other users as well. I was having trouble fitting all this into 140 characters, so here it is. So in closing, I think this is going to be the first version of Ubuntu I keep installed ...
