Chez Dormont: January 2010
http://dormont.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 26, 2010. Most Lavish Dinner Yet. Last night I hosted a dinner to support the charter school I work for. I dubbed it Italia Organica (I'll let you figure out what's wrong with that) and put together a mixture of organic vegetarian dishes. It was probably one of the better things I've ever made. On the menu was:. 1) Mixed Crostini (half with a marinated tomato spread, and half with a cannellini/pesto paste that was yum). 3) Roasted beet salad with vinaigrette and goat cheese. 4) I've chan...

Chez Dormont: September 2009
http://dormont.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 24, 2009. Rule Number One for Risotto: have it. I was all set to make roasted mushroom risotto with a parsley blend when, after going through a thorough search of my cabinet, I realized I had no risotto. I had already peeled and chopped an excessive amount of garlic for roasting with the mushrooms. Everything was ready, except the rice. So I made a quick choice looking through what was left: polenta. Wednesday, September 23, 2009. Since then I've used blenders, forks, knives, and most...

Chez Dormont: October 2009
http://dormont.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, October 25, 2009. It didn't long for me to figure out that my cooking skills were almost entirely limited Italian. Sure, I had dabbled with couscous and few other random chicken things, maybe even stuffed peppers in some vague Spanish way. Truth be told, I've got an extremely limited repertoire. Thursday, October 08, 2009. Saturday, October 03, 2009. Nearing the End of Jamie. While I've made more recipes from Jamie's Italy than I have from any other cookbook, I'm not quite done yet, but I'm conte...

Adventures in Drinking: December 2004
http://drinkingadventures.blogspot.com/2004_12_01_archive.html
Diary of a Drunk, Dedicated to Debauchery. Wednesday, December 29, 2004. Toad Hollow Cacophany, Zinfandel. Had a bottle of this shortly before I left for my trip, and it is quite excellent. A nice, dark, rich Zinfandel. For the quality, it's quite reasonable at about $13/bottle. I've heard very good things about Toad Hollow's other wines, but the other reds are generally in the $18-$22 range. Posted by Rev. Lick at 5:36 PM. Wednesday, December 22, 2004. Merry Christmas/ Happy Post-Hanukkah Lite Posting.

Adventures in Drinking: March 2005
http://drinkingadventures.blogspot.com/2005_03_01_archive.html
Diary of a Drunk, Dedicated to Debauchery. Wednesday, March 30, 2005. An elderly woman walked into the Bank of Canada one morning with a purse full of money. She wanted to open a savings account and insisted on talking to the president of the Bank because, she said, she had a lot of money. After many lengthy discussions (after all, the client is always right) an employee took the elderly woman to the president's office. The president of the Bank asked her how much she wanted to. That night, the president...

Adventures in Drinking: July 2005
http://drinkingadventures.blogspot.com/2005_07_01_archive.html
Diary of a Drunk, Dedicated to Debauchery. Thursday, July 28, 2005. Ask Rev. Lick: I think I saw a stripper at her day job. My dilemma is this: I always thought her attractive, but never enough beyond her appearance drew me in. And if this is indeed the same lady, I was definitely right in my thoughts about her physical appeal. How do I acknowledge my meeting her there at her day job? How do I reassure her I have absolutely no intention of "outing" her to the daytime employer? Most importantly, get her t...
