Lead Rising: Operation Firestorm
http://www.lead-rising.com/2015/07/operation-firestorm.html
Contact Me and FAQ. Monday, 13 July 2015. Apologies for the rubbish quality pictures in this post, I stupidly left the SD card for my camera in my computer so was stuck with just my phone for the day. This Saturday I braved the rail strikes in order to attend Operation: Firestorm held at Firestorm Games. In Cardiff. The format for even was 300 points and the missions were Transmission Matrix, Seize the Antennas and Frontline. Is this what heaven looks like? Myrmidon Officer BS CC. Open with Army V. My se...

Lead Rising: August 2015
http://www.lead-rising.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Contact Me and FAQ. Monday, 31 August 2015. Ive still been working on my BFG fleet - Battlefleet Valkyrie. 160;- as and when Ive found myself with spare time. My initial goal was to get up to 2,000 points and Ive finally done that with the addition of a Retribution Class Battleship, the Indomitable Will, and another three Sword Class Escorts. Common wisdom is that Imperial fleets are always best served by an Emperor, but the Retribution is just so intimating! Thursday, 27 August 2015. As that seems not t...

Lead Rising: Infinity - How to win games and influence outcomes
http://www.lead-rising.com/2014/09/infinity-how-to-win-games-and-influence.html
Contact Me and FAQ. Monday, 22 September 2014. Infinity - How to win games and influence outcomes. There was an interesting article. Written by Kris Sherriff over at Bell of Lost Souls about not doing stuff " just because you can. The gist of it, as far as Infinity is concerned, was that " opposed rolls are bad. And that spending orders to give your opponent a chance to kill your own models seems like something you should avoid. Can there be such a thing as a 'key' to playing Infinity well? Note: This ar...

Lead Rising: BIG the Second
http://www.lead-rising.com/2015/07/big-second.html
Contact Me and FAQ. Sunday, 12 July 2015. Last weekend I ran another. Tournament in Bristol and this time sixteen intrepid Infinity players showed up from as far away as London and Exeter to take a crack at the competition. The size of the event was definitely a surprise to me as there was another tournament happening in the Midlands that same weekend which a fair amount of 'regulars' were attending. In fact I had only planned for a dozen players and had to hastily request extra tables for us! Out of new...

Lead Rising: BFG: Battlefleet Valkyrie
http://www.lead-rising.com/2015/05/bfg-battlefleet-valkyrie.html
Contact Me and FAQ. Monday, 25 May 2015. I've got something a little bit different to show today. Over the last few months I've gradually been picking up more and more Battlefleet Gothic ships via eBay and various trade groups. I've always enjoyed playing the game and was involved in a campaign a few years ago which was great fun but since moving to Bristol I haven't had anybody to play against. So I've just been buying ships on a whim without having the motivation to actually get them painted. All the s...

The Artist of War: Legion Basilisk/Medusa
http://www.theartistofwar.com/2016/09/legion-basiliskmedusa.html
Monday, September 19, 2016. It's finally done. The last major bit I had to build were the exhausts. I gave up on trying to make them identical to the ones on the Forgeworld model. The curves and bent tubes were just not going to happen, but I think what I built is a reasonable substitute. I added a little ammo rack in the back. The command console was made with a push mold and green stuff. I made the barrel expandible so that it can be played as either a basilisk or medusa. Right, she's done! One of the ...

The Artist of War: Ork Deff Dread "El Huevo Muerto"
http://www.theartistofwar.com/2016/10/ork-deff-dread-el-huevo-muerto.html
Wednesday, October 19, 2016. Ork Deff Dread "El Huevo Muerto". A very brave Catachan Sergeant stands by for scale. All I had on hand were 25mm and 60mm bases, both were too small. So I made this 80mm base from a double layer of polystyrene and PVC foam board cut to shape and chamfered the edge with a hobby knife. The Easter egg was textured using a rotary tool. I'm quite happy with the combination of the texture, Rub 'n Buff and washes/oils. I think its really believable as metal. Part of each leg is a c...
