Khushushban: March 2014
http://khushushban.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Friday, 21 March 2014. A Hermit Life For Me. My imagination has been a seashell brimming with nostalgic memories of the sea. And time spent on top of a lonely rock anticipating sunrise and contemplating sunset. Of a house on my back. And words made beautiful by Mary Oliver. Once I looked inside. Of a shell folded like a pastry. And there was a fancy face—. Or almost a face—. And frisked up its brawny forearms. And my looking in. I scarcely had time to see it,. Under the pure white roof. Of the sea,.

Khushushban: April 2014
http://khushushban.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 2 April 2014. The Curious Cachepot Of Spring. The world is yawning, stretching arms. Spring is here, gliding gracefully through the landscape. Springing through a curious spiral cachepot of the ever winding seasons. Hatching in my palms. And on my drafting table all the same. And while the spring strich it's arms to cover the pavement blocks. I Wish you all a happy creative Spring Time :). Posted by Hussam Elsherif. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Khushushban: The Garlands Of Autumn
http://khushushban.blogspot.com/2011/12/garlands-of-autumn.html
Thursday, 22 December 2011. The Garlands Of Autumn. His eyes have looked at me through my quick passed Autumn. Now our days are shorter, nights are longer and the skies are covered with the cloudy cloak of winter. I remember seven years ago, when I first laid eyes on a certain amber joyful trickster, he seemed to have stepped out a fairy tale book and rooted himself into my nook, with mischievous grin he won my heart and changed the flavor of my life. Until next spring when he had found a partner, despit...

Khushushban: Sugar Dreams
http://khushushban.blogspot.com/2012/04/sugar-dreams.html
Sunday, 1 April 2012. Come one come all it's Moulid night. Prayers, swings and festive light. Here's a doll and there's a knight. Sugar crunch and sweet delight. Are children dreams of this night. Al-Moulid’s Doll (Arousit almoulid) is a distinctive feature of Prophet Mohamed’s Birthday ceremonies in Egypt. It is thought to be related to ancient Egyptian and also possibly to Coptic backgrounds. First the indigenous artists would engrave the shape of the doll on a wooden mould that splits into two sides&#...

Khushushban: The Lantern & Colors!
http://khushushban.blogspot.com/2011/09/ramadan-lanterns.html
Friday, 9 September 2011. The Lantern and Colors! Tucked away in an alley in one of Cairo's oldest quarters, craftsmen weld small metal pieces that will come together to form a traditional lantern. Ramadan lanterns, known as 'fanous' (singular) or 'fawanees' (plural), light Cairo nights in celebration of the holy month of Ramadan. My work here is a tribute to the holly month of Ramadan and also to Adly Rizkallah. Hussam Elsherif, I see my youth in you, I wish you success. Adly Rizallah). I was inspired b...
