Lake Taupo from Omori - the opposite side to Taupo. It's god's country in every sense of the description. Very special friends of ours live here and we have stayed with them several times over the years - and each time it takes my breath away just how truly, madly, deeply I love this part of NZ. Judging by his energy and form, 70 is the new 50!

As for us - we are all basket cases. The idea that we could lose him is too much to bear. The vet has called in a specialist who thinks he could have an autoimmune disease that is destroying his gut. These two - almost joined at the hip - they spend most of the day right beside one another - either snoozing or playing. Her favourite thing to do is grab Woody's leash and yank him about whenever we put them on.
