Paper Pendulum: Flower Ornaments
http://paperpendulum.blogspot.com/2011/12/12-days-of-craft-mas-day-1.html
Cross-continental craft group therapy. Saturday, December 3, 2011. Here at Paper Pendulum, we are celebrating this season with twelve days of Christmas-themed crafts. Or Craft-mas if you will. And true to form, the first craft features coffee-filter flowers. Cut out small four-petaled flowers out of coffee-filters, mine were about nickel-sized (1). Then, tie a loop of ribbon (2) and bend a length of wire into a "U" shape (3). Attach the ribbon to a small Styrofoam ball with the wire (4).

Paper Pendulum: Recycled Gift Packaging
http://paperpendulum.blogspot.com/2011/12/twelve-days-of-craft-mas-day-two.html
Cross-continental craft group therapy. Wednesday, December 7, 2011. If you're anything like me, the holidays aren't just a time for snow and poinsettias and thoughts of dancing sugar plums. They're also a time for junkmail. And lots of it. However, thanks to some creative re-imagining over at How About Orange. You can turn those piles of catalogs and coupons into gift packaging! Out of magazine advertisements I made miniature gift bags based on the newspaper gift-bag tutorial. Hostess with the Mostess.
Paper Pendulum: May 2011
http://paperpendulum.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Cross-continental craft group therapy. Tuesday, May 31, 2011. Over the last several months I've been experimenting with making paper flowers. So far I've really only had success with roses, orchids, and cherry blossoms. While the roses turned out passingly well (I gave my mother a bouquet for her birthday) I've always felt that they could have been done better. The other day I came across this woman, Cassie Mae Chappell. Links to this post. Labels: Coffee Filter Flowers. There is no shortage of festivals.
Paper Pendulum: June 2011
http://paperpendulum.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Cross-continental craft group therapy. Wednesday, June 22, 2011. This is the second project that will focus on accessory adaptability. This is a very simple craft; it allows for a great degree of versatility with very little effort. All you will need for the undertaking is earring backs (the ones below were obtained from Michael's), designer paper, clear tape, and Elmer's glue. Links to this post. Sunday, June 19, 2011. To make this idea a reality, I took a pair of old black heels and punched six holes a...

Verbal Submission: July 2011
http://verbalsubmission.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, July 28, 2011. Downs, Ups, and What To Do From Scarf. Made the basic class tonight. Really really wish I could make it in there more often, as I could definitely use a review of some basic jiujitsu concepts, which will become apparent as the entry unfolds (scary foreshadowing.). In guard pass drills, I hit a bunch sweeps, including Henry twice. Its good to know i still have any aptitude against him! Was a great partner, and I hope to work with him again. Vaughn's Triple Attack From Mount. Vaugh...
Verbal Submission: August 2011
http://verbalsubmission.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, August 31, 2011. Same old story; the busier I get, the more stuff I let slip, including this journal. Training has been going pretty well. I seem to have shifted most of my training to the secondary location, as the primary one moved its hours too early for me to get in there and still have a reasonable hope of completing my degree. Stuff that’s been somewhat working. Stuff that’s still no good. Stuff I should look up. Taps since last entry. Caught Eddie (black) with an arm triangle from mount...
Verbal Submission: Vaughn's Triple Attack From Mount.
http://verbalsubmission.blogspot.com/2011/07/vaughns-triple-attack-from-mount.html
Thursday, July 28, 2011. Vaughn's Triple Attack From Mount. Guard pass: I got swept by some of Vaughn's excellent movement from guard. Hit a hip bump sweep and maybe a pendulum sweep, but i don't remember on whom. Ended up sweeping Cue (purple), but i think he was playing light. He swept me easily later. After class, worked on some open guard stuff with Henry and Richard. My thugs Andy and Charlie both skipped tonight, so I didn't get my traditional post-class working over, but that's okay. June 24 Anoth...
Verbal Submission: Lots of Mat Time.
http://verbalsubmission.blogspot.com/2011/08/lots-of-mat-time.html
Saturday, August 6, 2011. Lots of Mat Time. Caught the nogi class last night, but the teacher wasn't there so we mostly just rolled after reviewing some triangle stuff. Then today, went across town to another gym and trained with a couple fellas preparing for an mma fight. Totally fun, but a little different than i thought it would be. I thought it would be rolling with strikes, but it was just rolling today. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). 2 stripe Blue Belt. View my complete profile.
Verbal Submission: Quick Update
http://verbalsubmission.blogspot.com/2011/08/quick-update.html
Thursday, August 4, 2011. After class, hung with Richard, Ricky and Henry for a minute. Tried the Collin sweep a few times on Henry and Ricky. Richard showed a tripod sweep and a counter to the guy fighting the tripod sweep. Grad near ankle , hook outside ankle with foot, push body with other foot. Verbal Submission: The first time I ever wore a mismatched gi top and bottom
http://verbalsubmission.blogspot.com/2011/07/first-time-i-ever-wore-mismatched-gi.html
Thursday, July 28, 2011. The first time I ever wore a mismatched gi top and bottom. Super late. Showed up with just a gi top and borrowed a blue pair of pants. Unfortunately my lack of preparedness was reflected in rolls as well. Basically missed the class, just enough time to get destroyed rolling. I think I need to not give up the closed guard so easily. I’ve been trying to work the open a bit more, with mixed results. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). 2 stripe Blue Belt. View my complete profile.
Verbal Submission: Milestone.
http://verbalsubmission.blogspot.com/2011/08/milestone.html
Monday, August 1, 2011. When he tapped I couldn't believe it. I asked if it was a choke or a crank. He said choke, but I don' t know. It probably was mostly the fact that he had just gone with Marco (black) and didn't want some huge guy on top of him. In any case, we reset, and I somehow got out of there without him tapping me. Interesting night. As I said, mixed feelings about the roll with Collin, but I have absolutely no doubt I'll pay for it in the very near future. Stuff to work on: passing ...

Friday, June 24, 2011. Rolls: Got Big Steve (new Blue). Steve moves better each time I roll with him, but he seems to have the same problem I have, namely committing to stuff against good guys (not that I’m one of the good guys! Unfortunately this will be a truncated version, as I am exhausted (and nothing supercool happened). Passed Charlie’s open guard (b y luck), Chris passed mine. Techniques: submission finishes from leg lasso sweep. 1. Wylian (new Blue) This kid is scary good. He almost got me w...

Paper. Pencil. Stat!
Paper Pencil. Stat! Thursday, July 3, 2008. Looking out the window, the world seemed like beautiful place. The stars shining down, she wanted to reach out and grab one. It felt so close, yet that much far away. All she ever wanted was to have that first kiss. As cliched and cheesy as it sounded, she wanted to find out if one's leg really raised backwards involuntarily with a touch of those lips. The first kiss did come, only when she had forgotten about it. When would she ever learn to give up dreaming?
