Tom's Been Thinking: the greatest story
http://tominontario.blogspot.com/2011/01/greatest-story.html
Saturday, January 22, 2011. It's been a while since I've posted. I wrote this column for yesterday's newspaper. I’ve made a New Year’s resolution. I’m going to read my Bible more. Shocking isn’t it? So it’s a few weeks into the New Year. How am I doing with my resolution? The Bible is an amazing book, written and assembled by many different people over hundreds of years. It contains ancient mythologies, histories, laws, teachings, prayers, liturgies, love poetry, wisdom literature, prophetic messages...

http://tominontario.blogspot.com/2010/11/videos-i-like.html
Monday, November 22, 2010. These are a couple of videos that "moved" me. The one in the mall food court happened near where I live. I'm sorry I wasn't there. The other one just made me think. $10 billion versus $450 billion. Wow! Is that the choir you sing with? I would love to have been there to see it! No, its not the choir I sing with. Im in Choralis Camerata. And the video is Chorus Niagara. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. What do I sometimes look at? The Text This Week.

Tom's Been Thinking: December 2009
http://tominontario.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 21, 2009. The Reason for the Season. I wrote this for our church newsletter that went out last week. I’m sure we’ve probably all heard the saying that. 8220;Jesus is the reason for the season.”. It’s a nice sentiment I guess, but sometimes I wonder what’s behind it. Lately I think some Christians have been getting a little defensive over what has been happening to “our” holiday. I don’t feel threatened. So far there’s no law that says I can’t put up a. Tree in my home and call it a.

See You in Africa! Thirteen Lutherans and two Presbyterians leave the Chicago suburbs for two and a half weeks of work and play in northern Tanzania. Sermon: Who do you say that I am? A week ago, I preached a sermon that drew heavily on our Africa experiences, and thought I would post it here, just in case anyone wants to read it. (Cross-posted from my blog, the thin paper vault. Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, "Who do people say that the Son of Man is?

Tom's Been Thinking: Poverty History?
http://tominontario.blogspot.com/2011/01/poverty-history.html
Saturday, January 22, 2011. Dear Mr. Flaherty,. The new Conservative government in the UK continues to increase their aid and has re-committed to achieving the 0.7% aid target by 2013, despite dealing with a much larger deficit than Canada. Canada ranks only 14th out of 23 donor countries. We can do better. Please do the right thing in your 2011 federal budget and bring in a budget that would help to make poverty history. Thank you for considering these heart-felt requests. View my complete profile.
