Art-Life-Rust: Homework
http://art-life-rust.blogspot.com/2015/07/homework.html
Tuesday, July 14, 2015. I'm trying to be a good student, actually doing some of the homework as assigned in the Kate Thompson online portrait class I'm taking. I'm trying to just relax and let them be learning experiences as I work with different lighting and materials, and not get all invested in the results as my perfectionist self tends to do. As a break from portraits I painted this in my fabric journal to practice with the retarder. July 16, 2015 at 1:02 AM. July 17, 2015 at 3:30 AM. These are wonde...

Art-Life-Rust: August 2015
http://art-life-rust.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 24, 2015. A variety of journal pages, trying to finish one - 15 pages to go! I can't explain why I suddenly feel the need to actually COMPLETE something, but then I probably don't need to as you all most likely totally understand. And this is good practice for me to just work on quick pages, not get too invested in them, and move on. Always good for me to be working consistently on a (mostly) daily basis. Links to this post. Monday, August 17, 2015. Jewelry re-purposing and art journal push.

Hyperbolic Muse: March 2015
http://parabolicmuse2ndpage.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 11, 2015. The Art of Judgment. This is my first official post at Hyperbolic Muse. For those to read my blog (all four of you), this must be an exciting day! To know that, unlike your buses, your episodes of Gray's Anatomy, your sales at Nordstrom, you haven't missed one thing at Hyperbolic Muse! Place whatever value you wish on this realization.). I struggled with this a lot. Would I embarrass myself? I was asked to price the work that had been accepted. That was another conundrum...

Art-Life-Rust: July 2015
http://art-life-rust.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 20, 2015. The Last Empty Wall Space. It's completely crooked in every way though so it's hard to imagine - part of it's mystery I guess! I'm charmed by misfits and the general size was right so I brought it home and have been eyeing it ever since, trying to decide what to do with it. It was a good break from the portrait work I've been doing, and really fun to get back to one of my great loves, mixed media assemblage. Links to this post. Tuesday, July 14, 2015. Partway through the first one ...

Art-Life-Rust: Cracks and Blooms
http://art-life-rust.blogspot.com/2015/05/cracks-and-blooms.html
Friday, May 29, 2015. I painted a face in my fabric journal - I particularly like the cracks in the plaster on this page, the combination of whatever plaster I used and the type of fabric I guess. The closeup makes me think of a mural on an ancient wall. I've always felt like fucshias are little miracles, each of the blooms. I love this one in my old enamel baby bathtub - by the heat of July it'll be miserable but I've been enjoying it for a couple of months now so it's been worth it. Such an interesting...

Art-Life-Rust: December 2014
http://art-life-rust.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Tuesday, December 16, 2014. I haven't been doing much in the way of art but I did want to share something I did - I'm pretty proud of it because it was pretty darn difficult, in a fun way. There's a magical little store in Berkeley California called Castle in the Air. And after hours of pondering, and thinking and pondering some more and wishing I could read 1800's French (or that Google could translate it) it now looks like this (please ignore the magnets, it's on my fridge):.
