8220;One day, a few years ago, I was driving with a friend who asked me why I thought that many people just want to accept good people. This one question really changed my life” (Akhy Logo). Tiranus, or the Foundation for the Educational and Economic Development of Indigenous Papuans (Yayasan Pengembangan Pendidikan dan Perekonomian Rakyat Papua) is an initiative to give street kids, orphans and very disadvantaged children in the highlands of Papua the opportunity to have a basic education.

We hold workshops and presentations. On different topics related to indigenous issues in secondary schools in Luxembourgish, French, German or English. Topics include among others the impact of capitalism on indigenous societies, HIV/AIDS in Papua and the world, deforestation etc. We also give workshops in schools in Papua. Our workshops and presentations are based on interactive and participatory methods. We have developed our own curricula and interactive games. LU41 0019 4255 0549 3000.

The members of Partnerships for Indigenous Initiatives work as volunteers. All donations and membership will go directly to a project we support. Support the Tiranus school. 20 Euros will help towards the acquisition of additional school books and other material for the Tiranus school. 50 Euros will pay for the wage of a teacher for one month in the Tiranus school. You can also support us by hosting an event. We give workshops and presentations. You can become a member. With a yearly contribution of 25.

Positive is negative: HIV/AIDS in Papua. Is an ongoing in depth research project of P2I. Tanah Papua might only hold 1% of Indonesia’s population, but its HIV/AIDS levels are reported to be 15 times higher than the national average. 30 percent of all known HIV cases occur here and Papua is now considered to be facing a generalised epidemic. The caves have unique stone-age artifacts known as obsidian rock which was used by the stone-age people for hunting. Paradise lost has one of the largest man made lake in Kiambu county.
