To Capture the Water, Heal the Soil… – Partner the Water
https://partnerthewater.wordpress.com/2016/01/10/211
To Capture the Water, Heal the Soil…. January 10, 2016. January 11, 2016. Wintry temperatures at last! Evenings dipping into the 20s and days barely above 40. The water in the hugelkultur trench finally receded, the ground was firm enough to walk upon dry-shod, and I’d cleared and sorted most of the brush pile. The birds will have plenty, even after I’ve bundled enough branches into composite logs to hold up the full length of the. And plenty of compost as sheet mulch. Best of all, this process could bui...

Grafting Asian pear to ornamental Bradford pear

Grafting Asian pear to ornamental Bradford pear. Thursday, October 16, 2014. Many of you have probably seen or know about the flowering pear called Bradford. A friend of mine had his non-fruiting Bradford pear severely damaged in a snow storm a few years back, and he was about to cut the tree down. He also happens to be new to the world of permaculture, is planting extensive edible gardens, and hadn't yet dived into the power of grafting. And he said, "Wow, I didn't know that! Paradise Lot and Eric Toens...

#7: Intimacy | Skimming Deep
https://skimmingdeep.wordpress.com/2015/06/10/7-intimacy
Searching, traveling, talking, reflecting, and exploring. Read along with me as I continue on my journey through life. I’ve been sitting on this card for a few days, thinking about the word, what it means to me and what I feel comfortable sharing. And isn’t that the very essence of intimacy? What are we willing to share about ourselves with others? Outside of the blogging world, intimacy is also something I reflect on. How much do I share myself with others? I’ve developed, of asking lots of questi...

urban chicks farm: March 2014
http://urbanchicksfarm.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 19, 2014. I was cleaning up the back parking area/alley. (Canadian thistles to dig up, trash and dead vegetation etc.). The Jerusalem artichokes I had planted last spring failed to bloom and the stalks I had left standing for winter interest (read: garden clean up laziness) now looked sad and forlorn. So I started pulling them up, hoping new ones will grow, but feeling pessimistic about their chances. But attached to nearly every fibrous stem were little tubers! Tuesday, March 18, 2014.

urban chicks farm: Winter
http://urbanchicksfarm.blogspot.com/2015/02/winter.html
Friday, February 27, 2015. Front yard after shoveling for the 4th day in a row. After glorying in our upper 60's weather while it seemed the rest of the country endured storm after storm, we finally got ours. It hasn't been a lot, but it has been regular. I haven't ridden my bike to work in over a week as the snow has never quite left the roads. Chris shoveling paths so I could reach the rabbit hutchs. Our water feature, barely recognizable. Rustabelle and one of her young. All seem to be doing fine.

A Gentleman's Farm. Life on the homestead with a librarian and a chef. March 13, 2015. One of our first homesteading experiments on our half acre was getting chickens and building the chicken coop. We decided for Michael’s birthday, soon after moving to the homestead, we would go check out a local family who sold chickens and we came home with five. We were hungry for fresh eggs everyday. I immediately checked out. Building Chicken Coops for Dummies. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.
