We took him out to eat at his favorite restaurant - Growler's, of course - where he got his free annual birthday dinner. Uncle Nicky-o met us after work, too. Maria and I made a homemade orange layer cake that afternoon as well. Since Charles got his Wii. Well before his actual birthday, we got him a Vitale's. Bakery t-shirt (love those canolli's. Saturday, June 28, 2008. Niki Exhibit - fun for everyone! Today we visited the Niki Exhibit at the Missouri Botanical Gardens. I was very impressed with the mosaic glass sculptures throughout the gardens, and Maria was too! It helped that we went with Nonni, cousin Amanda, and Uncle Nick (now forever known as "Nicky-O! Maria loved the fountains, sandbox, and rope ladders, but decided to skip the slides today. She keeps us guessing! Here are a few highlights from our outing today. Her teacher, Miss Vicki,...

Saso Family Update: Maria, Maria - what do you see?
http://sasofamily.blogspot.com/2008/08/maria-maria-what-do-you-see.html
Saturday, August 30, 2008. Maria, Maria - what do you see? Maria has really gotten into 'reading' lately. Her latest favorite is "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? And the other versions including polar bears, panda bears, and mother bears. I'll find her in a corner or on the couch reciting books we've recently read along to the brown bear pattern. I've tried repeatedly to capture this on camera to no avail. But yesterday I began a covert mission to get it on tape! Is this blog on? I need Maria fix.

Sunday, April 13, 2008. 3 months in pictures. We went to see Sesame Street Live on the coldest day of the year in January. A week later it was 60 degrees so we headed to the park! Uncle Nick brought Diablo too! Then there was the big snow of the year a few weeks later. We all went sledding at the school by our house. Maria, daddy, and Uncle Nick posed. Birthday #2 was a blast! We had an Elmo themed party (of course) and Maria got lots of great gifts. Uncle Nick made her this beautiful rocking horse.

Thursday, July 26, 2007. Yep, it's that time of year already. The Parents As Teachers program is back in full swing here, so I went back to work this week. It's been bittersweet - I'm really glad to be using my brain once again, but all of this 'work' is getting in the way of my fun time with Maria! Ann has been a great help this week, too. She has watched Maria a few evenings while Charles has put in some extra hours, while I was out doing my home visits. We don't know what we'd do without Nonna! Althou...
