I find delight each day in the things that happen at Robert C. Parker School. I hope to share a little of the fun! Friday, October 24, 2014. What a week at school! 2-3's and 6-7's were intrepid scientists, undeterred by the conditions. This afternoon there is a soccer game and our St. Peter's friends are joining in. From tower with his trumpet playing. Wise words he was always saying. To rivers with his paddle rowing. The best example he was showing. On mountains to the top he’d climb. This is true for a...

I find delight each day in the things that happen at Robert C. Parker School. I hope to share a little of the fun! Friday, January 30, 2015. Teen hearts and minds. Insights into the adolescent brain are always welcome. It is both wonderful and challenging to be an adolescent and to teach and parent one, too. This interview with Frances Jenson Why Teens Are Impulsive, Addiction-prone, and Should Protect Their Brains. Looks like a great read. A few things I have noticed about middle school children is that...

I find delight each day in the things that happen at Robert C. Parker School. I hope to share a little of the fun! Wednesday, March 18, 2015. Our alumni are amazing folks. These are interesting people, committed to making a difference in the world - where ever they land. Associate Director and art teacher, Susie Merrett, who has been at Parker since the beginning, recently sent our alumni a Facebook message, "What are you up to? She has had wonderful responses. 8216;10: Hey Susie! I became Head of Robert...

The Kindergartener In Me: two
http://kindergartenerinme.blogspot.com/2014/05/two.html
Sunday, May 11, 2014. I can hardly believe that you are two already- and on Mother's Day to boot! You have made me one lucky, and very happy, mommy. Your growth and change over the last year is indescribable. I feel so blessed to be your mom. I know, I know. I am sure all moms say this about their children, but you are one special little boy. To the way we get to read books together at bedtime- with your exclamations of pure delight over every last kitty or truck or bike or ball. To the quiet times playi...

The Kindergartener In Me: August 2013
http://kindergartenerinme.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, August 31, 2013. Summer happened so fast. With so many lessons along the way. Lindan learned to climb up and down stairs on his knees and his feet. And how to recover when he fell. He learned that it's a lot of fun to play in the dirt. But that the dirt doesn't taste so good when you put a fistful in your mouth. Sand is equally intriguing. And no problem all over his face. Or in his mouth. Water is fun for splashing. And diving in, head-on. Chairs are for relaxing. And watching The Wiggles.

Friday, April 03, 2015. It's the little things he says. Language development meets personality in a fascinating way. It's so fun to listen to Lindan as he reasons out the world. And everyday, he says a hundred little things that make me smile. N Dessert (As in Hippos Go Berserk but "I want to eat ice cream for berserk."). V Erase (Race it up, Mommy.). N A sneeze ("I did a bless you all over the magazine, Mommy."). N Vagina ("You are a girl so you have a giant."). Cheer for me, Mommy! Subscribe to: Posts ...

The Kindergartener In Me: November 2014
http://kindergartenerinme.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 09, 2014. This is the boy who pinches the pages of his books and offer up the delights of what he has captured. "It's candy, Mommy.". This is the boy who rides his bike in big loops around our small living room, careening past the corners of all of our tables, parents on edge. This is the boy who learned to ride a two-wheeler without training wheels at age two and half. This is the boy who can balance in said high heels with more grace that Mommy, too. This is the boy who has the girls l...

Wednesday, December 11, 2013. Lindan's Words: 19 Months. Most people might not care, but when I look back, I want a quick snapshot now and again of what life is like with Lindan. I wish I did this kind of thing more often. Just a brief note on his going-ons. Today I will note his vocablary to date. I am sure this is an incomplete list, but it's what I can think of, off the top of my head. A- apple, Addy, auntie (ah-ee). D- Dada, Daddy (Da-ee), down. E- eyes, eat. N- NO, nigh nigh,. The Kindergartener In Me: A Day in the Life: 20 months
http://kindergartenerinme.blogspot.com/2014/01/a-day-in-life-20-months.html
Thursday, January 23, 2014. A Day in the Life: 20 months. The last couple of snow days home have given me a taste of just how fast this little boy is growing and changing. Which is a reminder that I need to savor each moment and record a few, too. It's too easy to forget. I might forget the ways that he stands up in the corner of his crib and waits quietly for us to come get him once we notice him on the video monitor. Or the way he tells me about his day with just a few words. I might forget that he has...

http://kindergartenerinme.blogspot.com/2013/07/a-day-in-life-14-months.html
Sunday, July 07, 2013. A Day in the Life, 14 months. Looking back, I want to remember what it's like to live with an almost 14-month-old boy. Our day to day can seem mundane, but I am sure that with time I will forget the precious little moments that make up our lives. After breakfast we'll wipe you down with a fuss before you head off to find your toys. You currently love balls (and a dog toy stick that cracks us up). You roll and chase and throw and experiment with gravity from every angle. Are still y...

Sunday, July 27, 2014. Nothing Terrible. Yet. I face each stage of mamahood with a little nervous energy about how I will handle what's to come. And so I entered the Terrible 2's. There is only more of a unique, individual little person to love. As he grows and changes. There is the way that he eats his cereal dry and drinks his milk on the side. There is the way that he hollers "game" every time he has tried a new activity that delights him. Daddy no go work. Papa walking street, too. Oma sit next you.
