Parliament's Ponderings, Poetry and Prose

Friday, December 31, 2010. However, I have held an interest for several years in photography. Although I have yet to master the art of taking good pictures of people, my favorite subject to photograph is nature. I love trying to capture the beauty of nature on camera, and as weird as it may sound, I am obsessed with taking pictures of dead trees. I know, morbid, right? Wednesday, July 29, 2009. A poem I wrote this fall. The beauty of your nature. Stirs awe within my soul;. Your creation that surrounds me.

Parliament's Ponderings, Poetry and Prose: Saved?

http://www.parliamentsietstra.blogspot.com/2009/03/saved.html

Saturday, March 14, 2009. I have been thinking a lot lately about the idea of Saving Grace. I feel like God's grace is so often misunderstood, misinterpreted, or just plain missed. Here is a poem I wrote that pretty much sums up my feelings. Misunderstood by all humanity. Begged for in darkness. Illogical, yet so simplistic. Carelessly thrown aside,. Lacking relevance for today. Betrayed and rejected,. Undeserved in our greatest failures. Given freely, yet rarely accepted. A last resort for some,.

Parliament's Ponderings, Poetry and Prose: June 2008

http://www.parliamentsietstra.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html

Thursday, June 19, 2008. Faces peered up at me from the pages, faces of people who had at one time meant the world to me and unfortunately, I had lost touch with many of them. I began to wonder how this happens. How do friends slide so easily in and out of our lives? Is it our busyness that forces us to cut ties with people whose time used to be so precious to us? Is it circumstance that causes us to prioritize the people and activities in our lives? Or is it really deeper than all of this?

Parliament's Ponderings, Poetry and Prose: Leaving

http://www.parliamentsietstra.blogspot.com/2009/04/leaving.html

Wednesday, April 15, 2009. A poem I was inspired to write after reading a portion of the book "Through Painted Deserts" by Donald Miller. Leaving this beautiful place,. From here to there,. As I tried to hold onto my self. That everybody has to leave,. Or they stop living. Only to be born again. Only to come home again. And learn to love again,. Only this time for different reasons. This cycle of changing. Keeps me moving,. Not only places, but the person I once was,. It keeps me pressing on.

Kevin and Jess: Influenza

http://kevinandjessjohnson.blogspot.com/2008/03/influenza.html

A little view into our world! Tuesday, March 11, 2008. My aches were so bad that the weight of my clothes felt uncomfortable on my skin! If you know me, you know that I am a really "good" sick person. I can pretty much fight through sickness and tough it out at work. This time was different.I went to bed Sunday night contemplating if I should call out sick on Monday. Just thinking about taking off work for being sick was a red flag for me! She got wide-eyed and said, "Not tomorrow! I took off work today ...

Kevin and Jess: February 2008

http://kevinandjessjohnson.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html

A little view into our world! Thursday, February 7, 2008. After the Christmas ornaments came down, the tree was moved to a much less prominent spot in our home and was quickly adorned with Valentine's Day decorations! It is quite a sight and many people laugh that I am actually allowing it in my home. What is life without a little fun? If the EverTree is still around for another holiday, I will post a picture! Maybe we will have a St. Patrick's Day or an Easter tree? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

A little view into our world! Tuesday, May 6, 2008. 13 days to go. I see the light at the end of the first-year-of-teaching-tunnel! 160;As I approach the end of the year, I am full of mixed emotions:.
