Tuesday, October 03, 2006. Mantis mantis flying free. Window bug molted into adulthood last weekend. Since we only got one male this year, and there's a beautiful female in the bush outside the other store, yesterday he was released into her territory. With any luck we'll find some ootheca there later. Thanks for eating all the bees! You will be missed. FWIW, popped a plump strawberry into the ladybug colony this morning. Somebody told me they love grapes so I figured why not give it a chance?

Sunday, December 31, 2006. Bromeliads for the New Year. Yes it's been awhile. "I've been busy! After waiting for (what feels like and probably is) years one of the bromeliad pups is sending up a shoot. This particular plant sat under the geranium for the longest time and all sorts of discarded blossoms filled its cup. On the odd chance the plant uses this detritus to manufacture new blooms I've started plopping some into the other pups. Posted by Doug at 12:22 PM. Magic Bulb store site.
