Musings and reflections of composer Joseph Gregorio. Saturday, November 7, 2009. NCCO conference, Day 3: The wrap-up. The last day of the NCCO conference was today. It's sad to have to bid everyone farewell, but after 3 days, I am beginning to get a little choired out, as many do at such conferences. One other highlight from the day was a [too! Gregorian Rant: October 2010
http://joe-re-mi.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Musings and reflections of composer Joseph Gregorio. Friday, October 29, 2010. I've been remiss in blogging lately. However, I have a bigger entry cooking concerning counterpoint, its place in a composer's training, and what I think might be a new way of looking at it altogether. Hope to have it up in a few days. Gregorian Rant: Moving out.
http://joe-re-mi.blogspot.com/2012/01/moving.html
Musings and reflections of composer Joseph Gregorio. Friday, January 20, 2012. I'm moving my blog to gregorianrant.wordpress.com. All of my old entries on this blog are being duplicated there, making it rather comically look like I've had an incredibly prolific day of blogging on the new site. I'll leave the old entries here as long as Blogger lets me, but there will be no new posts here. Ciao! August 29, 2012 at 3:45 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. http://joe-re-mi.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Musings and reflections of composer Joseph Gregorio. Thursday, October 22, 2009. I heart conferences- you [composers] should too! Who's unhappy in his/her job and/or moving to a new one? Who's being considered for such-and-such a post? Conductors love to know these things.). I can't urge my fellow composers of choral music enough to attend such conferences whenever they can. Seek out your niche(s), composers, and go make a splash. I will be attending the NCCO conference at Yale in a couple of weeks, and ...

Musings and reflections of composer Joseph Gregorio. Thursday, September 23, 2010. On the road.concert update. I wish I had enough brain power to put together something more substantial.for now, I don't, but I think that'll change in the coming weeks. A beautiful motet for women's voices; a lush new piece by Colin Britt called The House of Clouds. For choir and orchestra, which sets the eponymous poem by Elizabeth Barrett Browning; and Vivaldi's Gloria. Also on the program were my own Five Whitman Songs.

Gregorian Rant: March 2010
http://joe-re-mi.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Musings and reflections of composer Joseph Gregorio. Friday, March 19, 2010. Catholic liturgical music.blech. How did the church go from chant, which casts a spell and inspires wonder when performed well, and the great choral Masses by composers like Josquin, Lasso, and Mozart, to the banal droning of organ, cantor, priest, and (occasionally) congregation so often heard in Catholic services today? Go listen to a gospel choir sing. You haven't lived until you've seen and heard a gospel choir. You ...I spe...

Gregorian Rant: Westward again.
http://joe-re-mi.blogspot.com/2011/01/westward-again.html
Musings and reflections of composer Joseph Gregorio. Wednesday, January 5, 2011. I'm sitting here, utterly unprepared for the trip I'm about to take, lamenting how much I will miss my family while I'm gone.and yet, it seems the right time to make a blog entry. Don't ask why. I don't know. I'm headed back to California for the first part of the Cornell University Glee Club's concert tour. Men's choral piece I wrote for my wife that I had premiered at our wedding. If you're in CA, and want to try and catch...
