Wednesday, June 1, 2011. Thankfully we had a sunny weekend for graduation. in fact most would agree it was a bit 'too warm'! Annie has moved off-campus, did I write about that? It's strange not having him right next door. Especially when i run out of groceries! But jokes apart, now that he's away I realize just what a huge support he's been. And I miss him already, even though he's just down two streets from me. I wish he didn't have to go back at the end of summer. And so I'm worried they might read it?

Saturday, October 6, 2012. Four days of being able to have a leisurely breakfast instead of rushing out at 8am. Of being able to read and write about my research instead of setting prelims/assignments or reading about qualitative research methods (very mixed feelings there). Four days of yoga, walks, maybe a movie and more walks. Yesterday I was singing along to pandora while cooking dinner and I realized just how long it has been! Both, since I cooked and even longer since I have sung! Links to this post.

Thursday, September 19, 2013. I have a few days before I shift base from my main field site to a secondary one. I've had a little more time to sleep in, and even managed to watch a movie yesterday! For a little while now, our initial field visits are over. It's time to sit and work on the questionnaires. And coordinate other logistical issues like hiring a team of enumerators, preparing their training materials, chalking out a day by day timeline for the survey and so on. Good times for sure. The initial mucky feeling gave way to a messy but nice feeling, one which was only reinforced as the rest of my clothes were splattered with mud as well. About one dozen women in bright colorful sarees were bent forward, their hands transplanting rice saplings (? With such dexterity it looked almost mechanical. We talked for a bit.
