If you find yourself on US 285 heading west towards Conifer and Bailey, go a bit further to Grant, CO and try out Guanellla Pass! The pass today ranged from pot-holed and crumbled asphalt, extremely bumpy dirt road to a smooth and primed dirt road at the summit and beyond. We are anticipating the full paved road completion will lead to easier access and maybe even more cyclists!

Saturday, 14 April 2012. Goldfinch in the garden. This beautiful goldfinch was singing away in the garden yesterday. I'm a little worried that the small, lightly-speckled, greyish eggshell I found by the back door may have been his. Was walking the dog with Jon at Milton Country Park and he noticed this little hammock in the reeds. I think it must be a reed or sedge warbler nest. It doesn't look occupied, but I'll keep a lookout to see if anyone moves in over the next few weeks. Wednesday, 8 February 2012.
