I sold up and moved to Mars: Which side are you on?
http://aertog.blogspot.com/2014/10/which-side-are-you-on.html
Wednesday, 8 October 2014. Which side are you on? Or, are you a roundy or a squary? Without wishing to put words into the mouth of the late Roger Hargreaves I think his colours are pretty clearly nailed to the mast. I often bewail the fact that this country is held in the poisonous grip of a right wing media, but generally kids books are full of this kind of leftist propaganda - where does it all go wrong? So much for the Jesuits and their "give me the child". 8 October 2014 at 21:18. This is brilliant&#...

I sold up and moved to Mars: March 2015
http://aertog.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, 15 March 2015. Word of the day. Hamsteren v., to hoard. Discovered on Wednesday while flipping through a Dutch/English dictionary in Oxfam, it just leapt out at me. Thursday, 12 March 2015. Space age bachelor pad. Is it wrong for a man to be envious of his hamster? Above is our hamster's habitat, or one of them any way. This is his fun palace (it has a running wheel). His other pad is a much more spacious, though more traditional residence. Tuesday, 10 March 2015. Been to see some great bands (Wh...

Saturday, 1 March 2014. The sound of water. One Million Years Ago. Is possibly my favourite track on. Broadcast and The Focus Group Investigate Witch Cults etc. I write the odd post about lighthouses and this is the perfect soundtrack for a lighthouse, the rising and falling tone the beam and the tinkling noises are the bobbing tide. They even throw in some seagulls. Right, I ought to try and smash some of this ice". On youtube, it was just like this. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The sound of water. I LOV...

I sold up and moved to Mars: September 2013
http://aertog.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Monday, 30 September 2013. Season of mists and mellow freakiness. I found my way to this after buying a Psychic Ills. Album (on the same label, also good in a sub-Spacemen 3 way and such good sleeve design). But Lower Mind. Amen Dunes Lower Mind. Sunday, 29 September 2013. Will we never be free. Anyway, the prospect saw me up and dressed before 9am on a Sunday morning and rocketing off on my bike (my pyjama clad wife forlorn, "But.what's for breakfast? Saturday, 28 September 2013. Will always send me to ...

I sold up and moved to Mars: Word of the day
http://aertog.blogspot.com/2015/03/word-of-day.html
Sunday, 15 March 2015. Word of the day. Hamsteren v., to hoard. Discovered on Wednesday while flipping through a Dutch/English dictionary in Oxfam, it just leapt out at me. 18 March 2015 at 20:46. Thats intriguing. Related to the creature and their pouchy cheeks, or completely coincidental? 18 March 2015 at 23:27. I did look into the matter for the purpose of the post and Im fairly sure that the verb is derived from the noun. The first etymology that google throws up is from Old High German hamustro.

Saturday, 11 May 2013. This blog is happy to endorse the balloon bending powers of Rodneys Balloons. Balloon modelling for every occasion). He was doing his stuff down at the local fair (every year held on the first rainy Saturday in May). Incredibly, some people were not buying them. Friday, 10 May 2013. New feature random words. He sounds like an amusing fellow. Jazz Jesus and Mary Chain. The direction they should have taken after Darklands. Weird war Welsh Wendy. Like sweet soul music but hairier.

I sold up and moved to Mars: June 2013
http://aertog.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, 20 June 2013. Here, hair, here. I was up at my parents the weekend before last. Sitting on the sofa in the morning, going through the papers with them I became aware that my mum, sat at my side, was studying my head. "Have you had your hair cut? She asked. I nodded. "Hmm.it's not as good as usual". Was her verdict. I had to smile. Friday, 7 June 2013. Mermen we should turn to be. Listening to a Jason Pierce interview I was interested to hear his view that Slippin' And Slidin'. Oh, and this can ...

I sold up and moved to Mars: Upsettlement
http://aertog.blogspot.com/2014/09/upsettlement.html
Thursday, 4 September 2014. Appear on just about every ska compilation ever.compiled. And they're seriously good tracks. Other than those two though I admit, my knowledge of Upsetters instrumentals was scanty. Anyway, the other week, after twenty years of not really being that bothered I decided to check out some of their other output. I pondered which track to post and was torn between Sipreano. I opted for this one on the grounds that it's drier. Labels: lee scratch perry. 4 September 2014 at 19:20.

I sold up and moved to Mars: Lesser spotted lighthouse
http://aertog.blogspot.com/2014/09/lesser-spotted-lighthouse.html
Wednesday, 3 September 2014. This summer we returned to Somerset. I was dismissive last year of Watchet lighthouse, clocking in as it does at a mere 22 ft. A glorified pepper pot. However, I decided I might as well go and take a look and was mildly won over. It's not a bad little lighthouse, though it's not really a light house. The harbour walls (which seemed very high to me) were, here and there, eroded in a most interesting way. Very alien-looking I thought, and well worth a photograph. Reading in you...
