Hook - Dai Riki 320 #14. Thread - MFC 8/0 sand. Body - Zelon dubbing hydropsyche (hare's ear would work fine, too). Bead - 2.5mm gold. Wing - mule deer. Flash - Midge Krystal Flash rootbeer. Mash barb, slide on bead; start thread, wrap to bend. Re-start thread in front of bead; jam it tight against dubbed body.

I originally tied the wing using FisHair but it didn't give the fly much movement. EP fibers worked great for movement, but didn't work well for shaping the profile - at least the way I tie it. So in this version I alternate layers of both which seems to solve both issues. Also added the lateral scale handles for the eyes. Hook - Umpqua U401 SS (2/0 shown). FisHair - Polar Bear white.

Thread - UTC 6/0 pumpkin orange. Tail - golden pheasant tippets. Rib - Flashabou gold. Abdomen - dubbing orange. Wingpad/head - 2mm foam orange. Thorax - deer hair spun/clipped. Feelers - deer hair tips. Mash barb, start thread, wrap to point above barb. Cut out center stem of GP feather. Dub abdomen up to 60% mark.
