Patrick's Myopic Musings: Roy Keane
http://patricksmyopicmusings.blogspot.com/2010/11/roy-keane.html
Thursday, 11 November 2010. I was asked by a friend to write a piece about everyone's least favourite Irish footballer Roy Keane. So I came up with this little composition. It's not great, but I enjoyed writing it as it allowed for some comic flourishes in amongst the angst. Enjoy! 8220;And the next competitor please.”. The man with the beard stands up, and walks directly to the black chair. No fear. No deviation. He sits, sitting bolt upright in the chair, and fixes his gaze on the presenter. 8220;Royst...
Patrick's Myopic Musings: A Christmas Arsehole
http://patricksmyopicmusings.blogspot.com/2010/12/christmas-arsehole.html
Wednesday, 22 December 2010. I'm delighted to say that this latest piece of writing has been kindly lent to me by Ian Hewett. Please do follow his blog -. Http:/ www.dystopianfuchsia.com. I like this piece a lot. It's funny, has a nice little ending and attacks two people I dislike intensely. Enjoy, and happy Christmas! Days "Get off of my property," he snarled calmly, "before I call the police." The group trudged away, dejected, and he once more slammed his expensive portal shut behind him. But well, ye...

Patrick's Myopic Musings: September 2010
http://patricksmyopicmusings.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, 9 September 2010. I was challenged to write a short story based on the TV programme 'Dragons Den'. I came up with an idea which involved Steve Jobs unsuccessfully pitching the iPhone to the Dragons, but whilst it was fun to write and was okay, I felt my writing was a bit too bland, and unimaginative. So I wrote this instead, which certainly could be called as "out there" or "left field". Does it work? 8220;Oh Lord.Peter Jones! 8220;I don't like the look of this JR! 8220;Peter Jones.that sic...
Patrick's Myopic Musings: August 2010
http://patricksmyopicmusings.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, 19 August 2010. The Graham Stanier Show. A short story about Graham Stanier, the pyschologist on the British TV programme 'The Jeremy Kyle Show'. Inspiration for the story came from a friend, who was sure he had seen Mr Stanier in a bar in Birmingham, UK. The meeting hadn't gone well. Again. Graham sighed a little too dramatically, for the fifth time that evening, before dropping his head despondantly to look down into his Rum and Coke. “Silly bastards! Not that muggy cunt! He glanced across to...

Sue's Blog: Obesity
http://smjl123.blogspot.com/2011/08/obesity.html
Saturday, 27 August 2011. We now have abundance and easy access to tasty food in mammoth quantities. The result is that we have become a nation of gluttons, encouraged by the food industry and supermarkets. If people were suffering rationing now there would not be an obesity epidemic – so it is all down to availability and portions sizes. Smaller plates and bowls might help. What do you think – should people be allowed to get fatter and fatter? Is obesity a matter of our own personal responsibility?
Sue's Blog: Endings
http://smjl123.blogspot.com/2011/09/endings.html
Tuesday, 13 September 2011. Yesterday was a full moon – a time of endings. A group of us met in our university coffee shop. It felt like it would be the last time we would all be there together. It was strange and sad to see the freshers clutching their welcome packs and getting their photos and computer passwords sorted out. We felt like unwanted old chicks tossed out of the nest to make way for the new ones. Posted by Sue's Blog. 13 September 2011 at 12:20. Good suggestion - thanks for that. Sorry, Eng...
Sue's Blog: Rail fares
http://smjl123.blogspot.com/2011/08/rail-fares.html
Thursday, 11 August 2011. Just to add to our general misery, there are plans to increase rail fares. How will we ever have a decent public transport system and get cars off the roads if the average person cannot afford to travel by rail? If you are fed up with all this then there is a petition you can sign – link below, and there will also be a rally on Tuesday morning 16th August in London out side Waterloo station. Http:/ www.fairfaresnow.org.uk/petition. Posted by Sue's Blog. 17 August 2011 at 07:26.
Sue's Blog: Reading list for MA
http://smjl123.blogspot.com/2011/07/reading-list-for-ma.html
Thursday, 28 July 2011. Reading list for MA. I promised my friends at uni that I would let them know, via my blog, what happens on an MA course in creative writing. Well – here is the reading list. I’ve just spent a fortune at Amazon and have had to rearrange my home to accommodate the mammoth delivey of books that I am now expecting. I was warned there was a lot of reading to do – they weren’t joking! Borges, Jorge Luis, Labyrinths, 2000. Calvino, Italo, Invisible Cities, 2002. Booker, Christopher, The ...
Sue's Blog: What can society do?
http://smjl123.blogspot.com/2011/08/what-can-society-do.html
Wednesday, 10 August 2011. What can society do? People are asking themselves what has gone wrong with our society to spark the riots we have seen over the past few days. I was horrified by the total callousness of these 'rioters' who stole from an injured man and left him there. They reminded me of the worst type of school bully - showing no compassion for others and swaggering off with their cronies. What has caused their lack of morals and compassion? What can be done to stop the rot? Ive got a few peo...
