There is a village called Reaveley in Northumberland and a Guest House of the same name near Alnwick. My Reaveley relatives lived in London, the earliest I can trace at the present being Robert Reaveley. From records of the Sun Fire Office from the Guildhall Library, we know he insured properties in London. These were:. 37 Exmouth Street, Spa Fields.

SOME FIFTY GENERATIONS OF MY FAMILY. The Swantons of County Cork. The name Swanton appears to mean (a) place of swineherds or (b) farmstead or village of the herdsman. It is reputed to be Old English- swan tun. In England there are three villages in Norfolk named Swanton- all mentioned in the Domesday Book in 1086. Was so called because in earlier times it had been in the possession of Holme Abbey. Was connected to the de Morle family who were still in the village until C14.
