PAT'S MOMENTS

Friday, April 13, 2018. I can't believe this darned cold I had over a month ago didn't quite heal and now it's back again. I was told the cough would remain for 3-6 weeks so I didn't worry when I kept coughing but my sinuses have been blocked up the whole time and I should have realized this means it's probably an infection. Remember when doctors made house calls? Would a doctor tell you to go to Emergency if you feel too sick to come to their office? Thursday, April 12, 2018. I took my income tax papers...

PAT'S MOMENTS: Laughalot

http://patsmoments.blogspot.com/2015/08/laughalot.html

Monday, August 10, 2015. I do laugh a lot because I'm a pretty happy person but it's true that a natural smile or laugh gives your spirit a boost. On the other hand, feeling down (not depression) and dragging yourself around in misery takes a toll on your body and spirit. We all feel down at times but we can always climb out of the depths if we choose. But as long as my loved ones are doing okay I'll stay happy. I know, like all of us, some of them have their personal issues but they all handle them ...

PAT'S MOMENTS: Neilsen Family Reunion

http://patsmoments.blogspot.com/2015/08/neilsen-family-reunion.html

Tuesday, August 04, 2015. We slept well in our "Deluxe Log Cabin" (not well described, I'm afraid). It was clean and roomy enough but we had no cold (yes, cold) water for showers on our second to last day and there were many small openings through the logs that had me worrying about rain. Fortunately, there was none! We chatted and ate and swam and played games. We watched old photos on a movie screen outside in the moonlight. We went whale watching and got to hold starfish and sea urchins. W...We spent ...

PAT'S MOMENTS: 75 Plus 1 Day

http://patsmoments.blogspot.com/2015/08/75-plus-1-day.html

Thursday, August 06, 2015. 75 Plus 1 Day. It's amazing how much one day can make a difference in how you're feeling about your age. I think birthdays are maybe too strong a reminder that we're one year closer to the great beyond but give us one more day and we can shrug it all off. My life goes on just as it did before and I'm a happy camper again. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Good Change of Plans. The Importance of a GG. Im Cute and Loveable. 75 Plus 1 Day. PAT'S MOMENTS: Power Outage

http://patsmoments.blogspot.com/2015/07/power-outage.html

Wednesday, July 29, 2015. We're in the middle of a terrible heat wave.close to 100 F through the day and not much cooler at night. I was talking to Mary yesterday and joking about what I'd do if the power went out and I was left without air conditioning. Well, darned if the power didn't go out around 6:30 last night. It was so nice outside that I figured I'd sleep on my balcony if the power didn't come back on. It's nice to know that's an option. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Trip to N.B.

PAT'S MOMENTS: Re-usables

http://patsmoments.blogspot.com/2015/08/re-usables.html

Saturday, August 08, 2015. We are such a wasteful society.just look at what many people put out in yard sales for pennies. I do hate to throw something away that I know someone else can use so I send a lot to the Salvation Army. It's an excellent charity where the CEO's don't take an exorbitant salary. Look up the salaries of other charity CEO's and you'll see what I mean. You can find some lovely things to re-use and which cost very little if you just have patience. The Bolivia Experiment: Back Home

http://theboliviaexperiment.blogspot.com/2009/07/back-home.html

Sunday, July 19, 2009. Well, the original idea was to keep a running diary of our trip to Italy. The largest obstacle to that goal was lack of Internet access at many of the places we stayed. Our trip was fabulous. Definitely what we all needed. John grew a beard (sort of) which I loved, surprising because I'm not a big fan of facial hair. He looked so relaxed in it though! I got a really good tan for the first time in probably 20 years! Here's the Italy vacation in a nutshell. June 18th - Pompei! July 1...

The Bolivia Experiment: Odds and Ends

http://theboliviaexperiment.blogspot.com/2009/09/odds-and-ends.html

Monday, September 14, 2009. Last night I bought my ticket to go see my baby girl for Parents Weekend! Strange sight - saw a pizza delivery guy get a ride from a police officer on his motorcycle. John's on his way to Dayton, Ohio to run the 13th Air Force Marathon. It happens to land on the 13th anniversary of the accident that took his leg! I'm homesick for both the States and Canada! September 14, 2009 at 7:56 PM. Were homesick for you too, miss you and love you xoxoxo. September 14, 2009 at 11:08 PM.

The Bolivia Experiment: January 2009

http://theboliviaexperiment.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html

Saturday, January 31, 2009. Another picture perfect day. Jake had Boy Scouts this morning. While he did that I scooted over to buy a birthday gift for a little girl in his class. I thought to call a friend to see if she'd like to meet me at our "almost there" house.she did but not until 11:30. Okay! Diana brought some other of the Embassy ladies (all terrific! With her as she was out and about with them when I called. We toured the house and then decided that it was time for lunch! TGIF or maybe not.

The Bolivia Experiment: October 2009

http://theboliviaexperiment.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

Tuesday, October 13, 2009. It's always so nice coming back to the States. John and I arrived Sunday night, the 4th. We spent the night at a hotel by the airport then drove to Georgia on Monday morning. It was hard to turn off of I-10 and head north instead of carrying on until we hit Tallahassee! Lisette (and we) had to wait another 24 hours. So we hit Best Buy and found one on clearance. Parents Weekend was great! Seeing Lisette was even better! We're back in our house, ordered a bedroom set, a dining s...

The Bolivia Experiment: Well, All WAS Quiet...

http://theboliviaexperiment.blogspot.com/2009/09/well-all-was-quiet.html

Saturday, September 5, 2009. Well, All WAS Quiet. This has been a quiet Saturday but our friend took Buddy for a walk with her Golden Retriever only to find her SUV vandalized when she returned to our house. John and Joanne are outside dealing with it - I had just opened up my blog to write when Joanne rang our doorbell. Living in a big city. :-(. It looks like a doll house or a playhouse that's been blown up to adult size! So now the four of us (John, Nicole, Jake and I - missing Lisette!

The Bolivia Experiment: May 2009

http://theboliviaexperiment.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html

Sunday, May 17, 2009. It's been another busy few weeks and my work hours are about to increase as the wonderful nurse who normally works the full-time position is leaving! So I'll fill in the gaps a bit until we hire another RN. Friday I worked in the morning then taught a CPR class in the afternoon at USAID, their building is a little closer to home than the Embassy. It was a long day though and our finale was Lisette's final chorus concert in high school. :-(. We got home around 12:30 and had some drin...

The Bolivia Experiment: Eight Years Later

http://theboliviaexperiment.blogspot.com/2009/09/eight-years-later.html

Friday, September 11, 2009. We had a moment of silence in the Embassy this morning. Hard to believe it's been eight years but then again, so much has changed since then.good and bad. On a much lighter note - dropped John off at a function this evening (a guy thing) and the house number was 7. We found the street, it was a short one and noticed the first number was 70 which concerned us.the next one was 100.beside it was number 7. Go figure. Weird place we live in. Have a fabulous weekend! Love to you all!

The Bolivia Experiment: November 2008

http://theboliviaexperiment.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html

Saturday, November 29, 2008. John and I arrived yesterday afternoon. The wake is tomorrow and the funeral mass/burial is Monday. The kids are with our wonderful friends in La Paz, but it's strange to be on a different continent than your babies! John's dad is doing well, considering. His mom fell apart a bit at the airport but she's doing pretty darn well too. They're the best in-laws a woman could ask for. I'll not likely blog for a few days but I'll be back when I'm back in Bolivia! A little later on, ...

The Bolivia Experiment: March 2009

http://theboliviaexperiment.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

Saturday, March 28, 2009. Busier Than Usual Week. It's been nuts. Not ugly but there's been no time to notice the roses much less smell them. And then last night was a reception at the Colombian Ambassador's residence. The Attache functions are mostly voluntary for the wives/husbands so it wasn't a big deal. John was home just after 10 and I had a chance to catch my breath. Now we have two events to go to this evening. Tomorrow is going to be a VERY quiet day! Wednesday, March 18, 2009. My English profes...
