Birthday at the Lake. On Friday Grama Pobst turned 85 (after celebrating 65 years of marriage on Thursday! The kids and I drove north and enjoyed a day at Lake Chelan in celebration. Both kids were wildly enthusiastic about swimming in the lake. By day's end, Shannon was "swimming" from Grama to me fully submerged. Mitch has become a major water lover this summer (whew! And as long as he has his mask, he is happy! We enjoyed our picnic, perfect weather, and priceless time together. Shan was cold so she a...

Baseball season at last! Yesterday was the field work day and practice begins on Monday with no pre-season restrictions.it's baseball season! He's focused - and thrilled to have new cleats and pants that fit. In fact, he was focused on sliding to get his new pants stained so he looked like a ball player. Oye vey. This is Shannon's stance and tough game face. Watching the ball - and practicing switch hitting! There's no such thing as stopping at first in our yard! Happy 34th, Bryan! We love you, Bryan!

Fair and Freckled: Highs and Lows
http://fairandfreckled.blogspot.com/2015/05/highs-and-lows.html
Shannon spent the majority of last week as a very sick and puny little girl. Lots of vomit, no appetite, and abundant cuddle time. Fortunately, she has rallied. Friday we went to Umatilla to watch Bryan's team finish up the regular season. Koko was there with a dog! The kids were, of course, in heaven. The dog, not so much. Poor thing was desperate to escape, but still very patient with little groping hands. Bryan's team earned EOL league champs again. Never mind they have to play up a classification.

Fair and Freckled: Quick Visit
http://fairandfreckled.blogspot.com/2015/07/quick-visit.html
We went up to Ephrata to visit Aunt Phyllis on Tuesday. Shannon and Great Papa hung out. Shan also read about kittens with Aunt Phyllis. Mitch showed Gramps a video on the cell phone - quite an experience for the luddite! He also had a short nap in the hammock with Grampa A. Dad and I attempted a neighborhood improvement project, violating multiple city ordinances to the dismay of the resident councilwoman! She was forced to calm her frayed nerves in the hammock with the Noodle. July 31, 2015 at 3:48 PM.

All ready for a Husky win in the Apple Cup! Shannon is trying SO hard to make a W! Thanksgiving was with the Allstots this year and we had a nice visit in Ephrata. I enjoyed a gathering with some high school friends on Wednesday evening and Bryan had his annual Turkey Bowl Thursday morning. We then feasted, puzzled, footballed, and feasted some more. Shannon was a big help getting things ready for dinner. She was SO excited to wear her new shoes, tights, dress and Julie-made bows! Story time with Aunt Sue.

The End of Preschool for MBJ. Today was Mitchell's final day of preschool at Bethlehem Lutheran. He is so grown up now and very ready for Kindergarten. We are pleased with our choice to give him this second, red-shirt year to mature. Here's a look back at some random pictures throughout the year:. The ever-popular outside playtime helped him grow in strength and taught him new games and skills. A group of monkeys! He was very fond of the enclosed sandbox and sometimes there was even buried treasure!

Fair and Freckled: Mitchell Turns 6!
http://fairandfreckled.blogspot.com/2015/08/mitchell-bryan-turned-6-today-which-is.html
Mitchell Bryan turned 6 today, which is hard to believe. We had a birthday donut for breakfast, rocked swim lessons, and then enjoyed a birthday party with friends this afternoon. Mitch wanted a super hero theme. We had a party at the splash park and the connecting castle park. The weather was perfect! There was a herd of little boys (and a few girls) running from park to park, almost in formation. It was funny to watch! Happy birthday to our fun-loving, sometimes-gentle, big-hearted, and SUPER boy!

Mitchell meets the Mariners. For Mitchell's birthday this year, we gave him his first MLB experience. Bryan and he drove to Seattle on Wednesday for an afternoon game. He left sporting his new hat and bringing his jersey and glove. He was smug and excited! At the stadium, he got to go on the field before the game! He threw some heat,. Made a leaping catch (with his newly autographed glove! Saw the Blue Angels fly over,. Met the pilots,. And had super seats! They watched King Felix earn the loss. A bit of...

Spring Break in DC. This was the year for my bi-annual DC trip with students. I brought a small-ish group, but they were wonderful! Mom came along as a chaperone and hadn't been since 1972 so it was wonderful to watch her see it anew! Ann lives in DC now and met up with us for a bit of touring on Monday. Here we are at the Star Spangled Banner exhibit in the American History Smithsonian. The Great Auk statue (KBowl nerds for life! At the Smithsonian Castle. Here are the chaperones at the Capitol. This was the year of the alumni games! After hosting and playing in both the Stanfield and Ephrata games this summer, Bryan closed out the season with the UW alumni game this weekend at the new ballpark. Here he and Tila watch BP at the Diamond on Montlake. This is a pretty impressive facility! Some of the guys from his era.. Bryan played some 1st, 3rd and short for the winning gold team.. It was fun to watch - and as per usual - I was cold by game's end. Shannon has progressed so much this summer!
