Strolling Up the Canyon: June 2015
http://strollingthecanyon.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Strolling Up the Canyon. Tuesday, June 30, 2015. Green Green, Its Green They Say. We first noticed it was crazy green when we drove into our driveway and the grass was "hood high." Our Jeep is not a low-to-the-ground car, and when we saw the grass as tall as the hood, we were shocked. Everywhere we went, we were met with chest-high grass, blooming flowers, and a beautifully high stream. Monday, June 22, 2015. Although Caleb appeared to be the youngest one there, he was one of the largest babies! The book...

Strolling Up the Canyon: February 2015
http://strollingthecanyon.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Strolling Up the Canyon. Saturday, February 28, 2015. The Blogs I Did Not Write. I have thought of several blogs to write, none of which were done. I started on several but did not want to become the ranter. So I did not write about:. 1 My lack of understanding for the hype about Fifty Shades of Grey. Seems to me it is a film that appears to condone domestic violence (does no really mean no? Porn, and perversion. I don't believe these should be something women promote. But I am old. Second, teaching them...

Strolling Up the Canyon: August 2014
http://strollingthecanyon.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Strolling Up the Canyon. Monday, August 25, 2014. Dr Cederberg said we would know when it was time, and indeed we did. Don and I were hoping Babs would just quietly pass away, but that was not to be. By the time we returned from our trip to Oregon, we knew time was short. She had lost so much muscle she could no longer stand up. That was just not fair. And she had a fang that was with her until her dying day. It is particularly visible in this picture. Saturday, August 23, 2014. When Don was a little boy...

Strolling Up the Canyon: August 2015
http://strollingthecanyon.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Strolling Up the Canyon. Wednesday, August 26, 2015. Mother Nature is At It Again. Earlier in the summer, I wrote about the yukky tent worms and how they had destroyed the leaves on an entire aspen grove. The caterpillars were crawling on the road, falling on our head, and climbing on the car. It was disgusting, and the aspen trees were not much liking it, either. Well, six weeks later, and look what has happened. As predicted, the leaves have come back, and the grove is as beautiful as ever! This mornin...

Strolling Up the Canyon: April 2015
http://strollingthecanyon.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Strolling Up the Canyon. Tuesday, April 28, 2015. The Different Looks of a Volcano. We had so many interesting views of the volcano and the landscape it created. Enjoy! Volcanic rocks covered with moss. A cave near the basalt. They were filming a movie there. Upon arriving in Iceland, we began to see pictures of trolls and elves. They were everywhere. Several articles alluded to the presence of little people on the island, some suggesting that one only needs to look at the hills to see them. Because Icel...

Strolling Up the Canyon: Be Careful What You Wish For
http://strollingthecanyon.blogspot.com/2015/07/be-careful-what-you-wish-for.html
Strolling Up the Canyon. Thursday, July 9, 2015. Be Careful What You Wish For. Don and I had planned to come home from the cabin on July 8, Wednesday. I had been startled awake about 2:30 am Thinking it was Don, I yelled, "Don, are you ok? He sat straight up in bed . . . yes, he was ok. So we went downstairs to check on the dogs, and indeed, Jordy needed to go outside. I took him, put him back in his kennel, and went back to bed. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Strolling Up the Canyon: September 2014
http://strollingthecanyon.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Strolling Up the Canyon. Sunday, September 28, 2014. The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry. This is not a book I would have picked up to read. Not that it sounds awful, it just did not sound like something I would actually enjoy. But since it was a book club book, I HAD to read it. And so . . . Avid reader I am not. Fast reader I am not. But give me an intriguing book and I can be both! And that is exactly what A. J. Fikry was. Every chance I got, I picked it up, and by Wednesday afternoon, done. A few weeks a...

Strolling Up the Canyon: A Closetful of Lady's Slippers
http://strollingthecanyon.blogspot.com/2015/07/a-closetfull-of-lady-slippers.html
Strolling Up the Canyon. Thursday, July 2, 2015. A Closetful of Ladys Slippers. When we were at the cabin in May, I found several Lady's Slipper plants, but only one looked like it might bloom. I was hoping it would open before we left, but that was not to be my luck. When we returned on June 26, I went up to find it, and it was still yellow. Since I had the dogs with me, I did not get close and the next morning, it had turned brown. Dad gummit! For flower geeks like me, it was a thrilling find!

Strolling Up the Canyon: Far From the Madding Crowd
http://strollingthecanyon.blogspot.com/2015/07/far-from-madding-crowd.html
Strolling Up the Canyon. Sunday, July 19, 2015. Far From the Madding Crowd. Diana told me she doesn't really like Thomas Hardy's writing, but she does like this book. Well, that was encouraging. But I started it anyway. It wasn't long before it had me in its grasp. It was not a book I could read quickly, but it was one I could read slowly and enjoy. The descriptions were beautiful, and for once, I allowed myself to enjoy the way Hardy put words together. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Strolling Up the Canyon: Yukky Web Worms
http://strollingthecanyon.blogspot.com/2015/07/yukky-web-worms.html
Strolling Up the Canyon. Thursday, July 2, 2015. In 2013, when we went to Alaska, we rode the Cumbres and Toltec Railroad from Chama, NM to Antonito, Colorado. As we rode through the aspen groves, we noticed that most of the trees were leafless. My cousin, Marci, explained that the web worms had taken hold and this was a yearly occurrence.
