MagPi - Issue 24. Everyday Electronics - October 1991, pages 620-626. Using the Raspberry Pi as an Oscilloscope. An Oscilloscope is right up there next to the DVM. As a must have. I've used a Hung Chang HC-L202 20MHz Dual Trace that I managed to "rescue" from someone around 15 years ago. It's not portable and being analogue it's only good for repeating signals. No chance of debugging signalling or data (like I2C). I'm not serious enough about having a Digital Storage Oscilloscope that would buy one.

I want the option (if it's appropriate) to both contact and be contacted anytime anywhere. I want good quality voice. I'm fiercly suspicious of anything given away for "free" so Skype and similar services are not really options here. I want to be in control of my calls and recordings. Using a mobile phone handset (Samsung Galaxy S3) and DISA / SIP to come as close as possible to providing ubiquitous telephony. Ubiquitous open source telephony. Download the APK I'm using. Not so much about root access as it is getting rid of the manufacturer bloatware. Things have come a long way since my G1, this process is now well documented and there are lots of protections to prevent bricking the phone. There are certain APK files. That you might need, among others Google Maps. Cyanogenmod (version 10.2.0, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean) on my Samsung Galaxy S3. Once installed the application registers an INTENT for image and video mimeTypes. And thus presents in any context sensitive 'share' menu. Once the intent is passed the App loads a list of allowed recipients from this URL, devices are identified by the IMEI number which the APP passes. The recipient receives an email with a link to the media.
