We went to the literal start of the Missouri River a quarter mile from where we stayed last night. Lewis and Clark had camped here on their expedition. Two rivers, the Madison and the Jefferson, join to form the Missouri. A short distance downstream, the Gallatin River also joins, thus the name Three Forks, Montana. Then the terrain got more interesting.
