Just another WordPress.com site. The Smokies , Part 1. Ok, so after two days chilling at the Fontana “Hilton,” a gang of folks were ready to start the Smokies. Ram into Tu-tu and her family at the “Hilton.” Since Tu-tu gave me my trail name, I got a pic of us together. First day was a twelve mile uphill hike! The owner of the Hike Inn pretty much said the Smokies are easier than the last stretch, so the worst is over until NH. It remains to be seen if my left knee agrees with that assessment. Bunny Hikes the Appalachian Trail. 8212; 2,183 miles of laughter and tears as I walk the spine of the east coast. So you wanna hike the AT. I want to …. It 68 mi to the next shelter and its already 10:30am. At my speed, I won’t get there till 6pm. This should be easy by now and it’s not. I miss my family. I miss my friends. I miss my dog. I miss my community. Being such a slow hiker, all groups pass me by. I don’t have a hiking family. Is this another Lesson in being alone? Will I still want to quit?
