Prompts and Directories - Even Better Git (and Mercurial) with PowerShell - Scott Hanselman

Prompts and Directories - Even Better Git (and Mercurial) with PowerShell. February 1, '12. Posted in Open Source. I love PowerShell and spent years and years working with it since it first came out. I've actually got 15 or so pages of PowerShell posts on this blog. A long time ago (2009) Mark Embling. Blogged about a nice prompt with TabExpansion that he'd made to make working with PowerShell and Git. His favorite source control system) nicer. Later, Jeremy Skinner. Top Ten Windows Applications that are Hard to Live Without - Midspot
http://www.midspot.com/index.php/2006/10/03/top-ten-windows-applications-that-are-hard-to-live-without/comment-page-1
Technical insanity at its best! Top Ten Windows Applications that are Hard to Live Without. Now that I have been using Ubuntu Linux. For about 6 months pretty much full time, here is my list of software I cannot seem to replace:. This is one application that I have not even tried to replace on the Linux side. I refuse to do it. I think iTunes is that good. Hands down the number one app for Windows that is hard to walk away from and it’s made by Apple! I have to say Rhythmbox. Does come close though….
I Am Not Web Scale: Wunderlist Edition
http://log.paulbetts.org/i-am-not-web-scale-wunderlist-edition
I Am Not Web Scale: Wunderlist Edition. A few months ago, I posted about the Open Source projects I was currently working on. And that I was maintaining too many things. Fortunately, most of those things were accomplished! ModernHttpClient, ReactiveUI, and Akavache all have had new major releases recently. In that post, I screenshotted my Wunderlist list. Of what I'm working on. Fortunately, with the release of Wunderlist 3, I can now share that list on an ongoing basis as an Open Source Experiment:.
Make Async Your Buddy With Reactive Extensions - You’ve Been Haacked

And you like it. You've been Haacked and you like it. Make Async Your Buddy With Reactive Extensions. April 9, 2012. For a long time, good folks like Matt Podwysocki. Have extolled the virtues of Reactive Extensions (aka Rx) to me. It piqued my interest enough for me to write a post about it. But that was the extent of it. It sounded interesting, but it didn’t have any relevance to any projects I had at the time. On a project that actively uses Rx. And man, is my mind blown by Rx. Hits Me Like A Hurricane.

Introducing Refit 2.0. I've just released a brand new version of Refit, the portable C# library inspired by Jake Wharton's Retrofit. Refit (along with http:/ json2csharp.com. Allow you to really quickly create client libraries for Web APIs, by defining their contract in an Interface, and letting Refit do the grunt work of implementing the API for you. Here's an example:. ModernHttpClient Pro Edition
http://log.paulbetts.org/modernhttpclient-pro-edition
For Enterprises, a paid version of ModernHttpClient is now available, which enables using ModernHttpClient with self-signed TLS/SSL certificates. You can find this version in the Xamarin Component Store. How do I use this? ModernHttpClient Pro works exactly the same as the Free version, with an additional method to enable untrusted certificates:. Var handler = new NativeMessageHandler(); handler.EnableUntrustedCertificates(); var httpClient = new HttpClient(handler);. What about the free version?
Parallels: The best Android Emulator I've ever used
http://log.paulbetts.org/parallels-the-best-android-emulator-ive-ever-used
Parallels: The best Android Emulator I've ever used. If you're doing Android development, a non-default VM is a must; the ARM Emulator is a complete pain to work with. There are several options based on QEMU and VirtualBox (Intel HAXM and Genymotion, respectively), and both of them are vastly better than the default. At my day job. I do a lot of Windows development on Parallels Desktop. For Windows, I find it to be the best VM software for Mac. Super fast, and the integration features are great. Then Qui...

Introducing Squirrel for Windows

Introducing Squirrel for Windows. A long time ago, I said to myself, "I should write my own installer and update framework for Desktop Windows apps, because everything else out there is abysmally bad." ASP.NET MVC + Sass = ♥
http://darrenkopp.com/posts/2013/07/21/ASPNET-MVC-plus-Sass-equals-love.html
Navigating through software, line by line. ASPNET MVC Sass = ♥. July 21, 2013. Sass makes CSS much easier to work with and since many of the popular front-end frameworks are developing their CSS using SASS. It becomes essential to have friction-free support for it with ASP.NET MVC. I just spent a few hours trying to figure out how to get ASP.NET MVC and Sass to work well together. There are so many packages on NuGet. Ultimately, I was able to get NSass. Package is by Paul Betts. While I did get this to w...
