Experiences of an ed-tech philosopher. Skip to primary content. How People Wish “Happy Birthday” in 2009. March 10, 2009. Today was a great day for many reasons. The sun was shining, the stock market shot up nearly 6%, and I got to teach my students. It also happened to be the first day of my 4th decade (or 30th birthday). The reason it totals to over 100% is because some people contacted me in more than one way. And you didn’t even have to remember on your own…. This entry was posted in Personal.

Experiences of an ed-tech philosopher. Skip to primary content. Twitter in the Classroom. March 18, 2009. Last Monday, after emerging from the twitter-immersion experience known as CUE. Palm Springs, I decided to find out if my students knew about or used twitter. Surprisingly, very few had ever heard of it. If you are reading this blog, you’re probably familiar with twitter. If not, below is a nice intro video by Common Craft. 😉 (sorry for th graphic image). My perspective on the video above:. After re...

Experiences of an ed-tech philosopher. Skip to primary content. Give Me Those 3 Hours Back! August 6, 2009. Risks that I took in the past paid off for me today, both professionally and financially. This morning, I had the privilege of working with math teachers in the Waterford school district. I was asked to present on integrating technology into the math classroom after Carolyn Viss attended my preso at the ETC! The most obvious signs of this was the engagement level (or lack thereof) of those in atten...
Challenge Day | Leaving only Footprints
https://pauldevoto.wordpress.com/2009/03/24/challenge-day
Experiences of an ed-tech philosopher. Skip to primary content. March 24, 2009. I went into Challenge Day with high hopes. After watching the video below and perusing the Challenge Day website. I recognized the power that it could have with our students. Designed to help people see the similarities and humanity in each of us, such a day could have a significant impact with helping students to open up, be real with their peers, and see that they are not alone. To not be invisible. I am a football player.
